So, if he has 3 or 4 more games like this one, and he'll be forgiven, right?

I'd like him to just stop going 20 games between decent performances. That's be a start.

Mario's listed three times, one of which is a playoff game. How the hell did Gagner make it onto this list?

/I've noticed that someone is busy breaking Wikipedia by listing Mats Sundin at 7 points and also breaking the formatting of the table while they're at it. Wasn't there a half hour ago.

I retract anything and everything I've ever said about him. What an amazing night! I'm telling you, hockey fans, jump on the Oilers bandwagon. It's gonna fill up quickly. 2015, baby!

I listened to the game on the radio. I don't care a bit that the Blackhawks lost, what unreal night for him.

He was named 1st, 2nd AND 3rd star. Only Richard and Gretzky have had that.

Gretzky's was only ceremonial

I expected so much more from him watching home well he played for the London Knights in Junior. Just one of those things I guess.

he went from 200th most to 110th most Goals in the NHL last night.

Wow... Good for him. Sorry I missed that game.

Also sorry I had to watch the Bruins play another shiatty game against Carolina. Carolina The Whalers have never swept a season series against the Bruins until this year.

Get it together, boys!

Does anything know anything about that? Seemed unbelievable so I looked into it, This (new window) wiki page states that both Peter and Anton would set rookie records, each earning eight points in a game on February 22, 1981, leading Quebec to an 11-7 win over the Washington Capitals.

wat?

More a sign of our shiatty goaltending than an indication of this guy's offensive brilliance. When your keeper makes farking Sam Gagner put up Lemieux stats, you know you've got problems.

In their division: lose one game, go to 4th. They have lost steam, last night's game excluded. That was all Gagner.

Crazy.

Good for you Sam Gagner. Against the Hawks is cool, but Detroit or Vancouver would have been so much better.

Assists are points too, and from what I can find:

Most Points, One Road Game

8 - Peter Stastny, Que., Feb. 22, 1981, at Was., 4 goals, 4 assists.

Que. 11, Was. 7.

- Anton Stastny, Que., Feb. 22, 1981, at Was., 3 goals, 5 assists.

Even as a Blackhawks fan I was hoping he'd get 9 or 10 in garbage time because cool shiat like that doesn't happen very often.

A few hockey stats clarified for the outsider:

Points = goals + assists

+/- = you get plus 1 for every even-strength or shorthanded goal your team scores while you're on the ice, and minus 1 for every even-strength or shorthanded goal the other team scores while you're on the ice.

PIM = minutes of penalty time assessed. May not correspond to amount of penalty times actually served, or to the amount of powerplay time that results.

GAA = goals allowed by a goaltender for every 60 minutes of ice time.

2012-02-03 09:31:14 AM
it really shows how the scoring in the league has gone down since the 80s, but it's good to see that it's still possible for crazy shiat to happen.

/why is there an evangelist on my tv??

farking hell, why did I miss this game?

Also, if he can put up consistent points over the next couple weeks, maybe he'll actually be the trade bait some folks are thinking he is. Question is, what do the Oilers get in return? No one's going to give up a blue chip d-man to get Gagner...

And also, the smiles in that pic of Gagner and Hallsy, that's the look of a couple guys who are going to get a ton of pussy...

Peter Stasny is probably the best non-Canadian to ever play in the NHL (and probably among the 10-best period). He was so good it was scary, almost to a Lemieux-Gretzky level. If he hadn't have lost so many years behind the Iron Curtain I have no doubt he'd be Top-5 All-Time in NHL scoring.

The way Crawford's been playing this season, I think third graders could score on his glove side with beach balls. Seriously, this guy is struggling mightily. I like him, but the Hawks will not go far in the playoffs with him in net.

That said, Gagner was a sight to be seen last night. Good on him.

Yet he never had a 50-goal season.

I'm not knocking him, I agree, he's extremely talented, but it's so weird to me that he never got 50 in a single season.

You need an illustration of how good he was. Look at the numbers he put up on some historically bad Quebec Nordiques teams. Quebec wasn't good until the last few years before moving to Denver when they had accumulated players like Sakic, Nolan, Sundin, Forsberg et al.

This guy and his six Vezinas, two Harts, two Pearsons, three Jennings, six All-Star Games, two Cups, and Olympic gold medal might disagree.

Yeah, Gagner was on fire last night. Crawford did let in some terrible goals, but I can't jump on the anti-Corey bandwagon just yet. He's a young goaltender who's going to have his ups and downs throughout the regular season, but I do think that the playoff run this year could be make or break for him and his confidence.

Remember though that in the latest games with the Wings and the Nucks (top of the league, and likely playoff opponents) he's put up good numbers and kept us in the games with some huge stops. If Schneider hadn't stood on his head on Tuesday the Hawks would have walked away with a W on the road in Vancouver.

So did the Stastny brothers each score 4 goals, while assisting his brother with his 4 goals to both tally 8 points in the February 22, 1981 game? I can't find a box score, but the Nordiques scored 11 goals in the game...

Schneider was unreal in that game. The WGN guys jinxed the game when they pointed out D. Sedin's OT win percentage right after regulation.

The suspense in the Central Division is driving me nutty.

You're right. It just seems like Crow's off-nights are coming more frequently. In October he was consistently great. He's also generally lights-out in those ridiculous shootouts. I just think that if there's a time to go out and get a Miller (who, admittedly, hasn't had a great season) this is the time to do it. The Sabres are all but done. Miller's stock is probably at an all-time low at this point. If that guy gets hot, which isn't unlikely in a new situation with new d-men in front of him, that's a goalie who could take a team with the Hawks' firepower to a Cup win.

I was just pissed that I stayed up to the end of that VAN game. It was a great game, but the ending was a huge dick-stomp.

Maybe it's just me but it seems like the Hawks' defense has not been helping either Crawford or Emery very much lately.

When they won the cup opposing teams were getting about 20 shots a game, and this year it seems that giving up 35 has been happening way too often.

I'm all in favor of making the Oilers play the Blackhawks for every remaining game of the season. 'Tis the only way we make the playoffs at this point.

Saturday's Blues vs. Predators will be key for both teams, obviously. I expect a tooth and nail game, but the real story will be the goaltending.

I wonder who will be in the net for the Blues.
