But it's not just the appearance; the sensation must have been at least somewhat realistic for these guys to have been fooled*.

I'm making the assumption here that the sensation for men varies depending on the partner....although maybe I'm wrong on that one. It's certainly the case for women.

I'm not sure it's really deception. It depends on what you consider her legal gender to be. If all of her legal documents say she is a female, and she has a vagina and no external male parts, then for all practical social and sexual purposes, she's a female. Sure, her chromosomes are still male, but I don't see how that would harm someone who had intercourse with her. If a married guy goes out and has an affair with a woman but doesn't tell that woman he's married, would he be breaking a law by not disclosing that?

Confabulat: I've never bothered to look over anyone's "legal documents" to ensure they are the sex they are pretending to be. Nor should I have to. Transsexuals are still men, I don't care what your "legal documents " say.

You're assuming that all transsexuals are men? What about women who transition to become men? What about hermaphrodites, intersexed, or those with ambiguous genitalia? I guess they'll never be considered a real man or woman, so we should just throw them to the curb.

I'm guessing most of you have never met a transsexual, or know someone with gender identity issues. If you did, you'd realize how serious the problem is for them to go through life feeling wrong. The suicide rate among transsexuals is incredibly high, and it's a very depressing thing to go to a group therapy meeting with a dozen or more people all suffer from gender identity issues. It's a very real problem for a surprising large number of people. Current estimates are that somewhere between 1% and 3% of the population experiences gender identity issues of some sort. It's also estimated that over 40,000 trans women have had sexual reassignment surgery in the US, with many more choosing not to have the surgery for a variety of reasons. There are a lot more of us out there than you think. We know you hate us and call us names and sometimes physically abuse us. It's an absolutely shiatty life we are stuck with, so please don't make it any harder on us than it already is. We definitely don't choose to be like this.

Let's go back to the woman in the article, or any other fully transitioned post-op transsexual. When they're out in public, what restroom are they suppose to use? The one for the gender they're presenting as, or the gender they were born as but had all those parts removed years or decades ago? It sounds like you think the woman in the article is still a man and should therefore use the men's restroom, right?
