I think I have a twitch in my left eyelid now.

Thanks subby, I've always wanted to look like a tweaked out druggy.

A de-illusionized version for anybody if they want to stop second-guessing themselves.

Hope the money is worth it Drew, in fact...I know it is.

So does Gizmodo have someone on staff who just posts optical illusions now? I swear they've done about half a dozen posts on optical illusions, half of them ones that I have known of since elementary school, like the color fatigue one.

I do think this one is pretty neat, though. (new window)

I just got back from the optometrist where they put those drops in my eyes that dilate the pupils so they can get an image of my retina and I can barely see anything. I'm actually hunched over with my glasses off and squinting at the screen right now just to read this stuff. So, anyway, as a result I'm getting a kick out of that illusion.

I want to thank Gizmodo and Subby for unearthing this very very old optical illusion and presenting it as new.

If you squint, they're concentric.

Though not strictly an optical illusion, the Isihara Color Blindness test illustrates the variability of human perception. The numeral "82" here is clearly visible to viewers with normal color vision.

This is a troll, right?

I did something similar to someone in another thread. This farker asked for chemistry instruction... and I pointed them to an episode of Look Around You (new window).
And he took me seriously...

I've debunked those images

Those photos are full of shiat and here's why.

Invert the colors (meaning everything becomes it's complimentary color) of a particular image. If you're colorblind to the certain image the complimentary image should show a blatantly obvious image.

Like this:
i566.photobucket.com
Looks like a 7

Now this one
i566.photobucket.com (click to make bigger)

Is bullshiat for colorblindness. You can kind of see some thing in the image on the left but nothing on the right.

2012-02-03 03:07:23 AM
I think it is "23"

Ah, I like this one too. I think it says a lot about the mind's ability to compensate for shadows quickly to see what's in them. We do not simply see what's in front of us. There's a lot of effective modifications involved and we only recognize a few.
