Didn't get any reading done today... couldn't concentrate. I took a nap with Cassie instead.

I had dinner with the parents on Friday and then stopped by there house to pick up my birthday present and since I was in the garage I grabbed my big kitty carrier and loaded it into my car. I had loaned it to Mom so Butter could get his shots and kept forgetting to take it home. Before I left, I let them know I had taken it. Dad says, 'Oh, no--put it back. We may need it after next week.' It seems HE convinced Mom that they need a new kitty since Butter is gone. An older one that will stay indoors. Mom has agreed!

I think it is a good idea. Everytime I am in the kitchen at their house I look out expecting to see him at the back door wanting in.

Right now, Lola's rubbing her butt on the carpet while pretending...um, not to be rubbing her butt on the carpet. Really, Lola? C'mon, man! I know what you're doing. Nothing sadder than a half-arsed carpet skiier.

powerful katrinka: My dirty dog story: One year when we were on a camping trip we stopped at my brother's place (in China ME BTW) and noticed our all white dog rolling in something. It was goose poop! We used the hose and people shampoo since I didn't think we'd need dog shampoo while camping.

Oh god, I have a horrible dirty dog goose poo story too! Also with a white dog! I may have told this story here before but if I did it was a long time ago, so what the heck.

*Warning* story is NSFL (Not Safe For Lunch)!

We were returning to the parking lot after a nice walk around the park. It was springtime and Canada geese were all over the lawn. So was their poop. We were like 15 feet away from the car when Chi-Chi suddenly saw an exquisite pile of goose poop and dove into it. Rolled and wriggled and ground himself into it. He was very pleased with himself. Then Buddy excitedly sniffed Chi-Chi's new poop coating... and started licking it off.

I remember freaking out and dragging the two of them to the park washroom. A guy was inside mopping the floor. He just nodded at us and left. As soon as the door closed, he started laughing his ass off.

I scraped as much poop off Chi-Chi as I could with cold water and toilet paper, which was all there was in the washroom. Then shovelled both wet smelly dogs into the backseat on an old blanket and rolled all the windows down. Thankfully it was a short ride home.

About halfway there we heard retching in the back seat. Buddy had barfed up all the poop he licked up earlier. He looked at me guiltily, then looked back at his barf, and decided that this poop was good enough to eat twice. As he lapped it up, Chi-Chi shoved his way in there so he could have some too. I don't know how I survived the ride home.

They both got baths immediately. Chi-Chi got three different baths. His new collar had to go straight into the garbage. And he had a revolting green stain on his back for weeks. :)

The poopy perps on a cleaner day (the filthy roller is in the passenger seat, the licker/barfer is in the driver's seat):

Finally here at temp threadsend, attempting to post 2d time. Sr Editing Cat Ginger was Aiding Assisting & Abetting so much he kicked me off the pg & lost the little i'd done for me.
Credit to Sybarite for pic under caption.

Puffwamcdooey, tho Plumbicon & I both have PawSenseTM installed on our respective desktops, that makes almost no difference to our Feline Overlords, any of 'em.
Stuff on pg 10, read in getting here:
Mrs CDK, tnx for the multiple .gifs, esp incl the 2d bear hug, for those who don't feel as Greatly Expansive as to use the big one brought in by Hop Along Cattiday.
Forgot to wish sherpa & Dragon Gute Besserung earlier; have viewed the poster in some detail at last. Most excellent, even better than thought on 1st viewing. Should even be printable, by those who have color printers. Of course for those who do so, a(nother) gift to the Resettlement Fund would be quite in order once the Technical Difficulties on site are suitably resolved. After some thought, it was realized that it's more likely the Local Authorities rather than RCMP (federal, aren't they?) who'd seek candidates to assist with their enquiries. (See Another Wall Of Text Coming. If I'm smart, I'll break it up).

josmonkeys, I too picked up the reference to Hester's scarlet collar, tho didn't comment thereupon. Also typo on yr credit in movie poster. Hah!
yellowcat, tnx for linkie to MischiefInDetails, Jason Wu for Target. Sometimes commercial threadjacks can be justified; this was one of those times. Methinx it wouldn't be in a spot if it wasn't either already carried or going to be carried. Next query is, forhowmuch? deliberately run together

Here in the states it's a federal crime. When I was in charge of security I had to supply firewall logs to the FBI on several occasions regarding identity and bank theft issues (doctors are a prime target when it comes to online theft). I imagine it would be the same up north.

Here's a Public Service Announcement:
With all of the trips to the emergency vet last week, I finally decided to make the move to new soft-sided cat carriers for the crew. That left a bunch of traditional hard plastic carriers taking up way too much room in my garage. I learned that our SPCA is stockpiling rigid carriers (read: stackable) for their disaster planning. I hadn't thought about that! What does the SPCA do if they need to evacuate?? Ours is in San Francisco and takes up an entire city block...I don't know how many hundreds of critters are housed there. Maybe thousands. They didn't mind that my old ones had some battle scars and were a bit rusty. They will potentially keep a critter safe. So when you're cleaning out your garage, maybe your shelter is doing the same. Beats adding them to the landfill.

In my personal disaster supplies, I also have a backup Emergency Cat Containment System, which I learned from someone here: was it Salem Witch? A large pillowcase for each cat. Put hand in case, grab cat by scruff, turn pillowcase inside out, tie. They won't be happy, but it's safe when all else fails, and multiple cats can be evacuated in a much smaller space than in carriers. I think a laundry basket was mentioned. I sure hope I never have to use it, but we do live in Earthquake Country.

Kicked self Out this time with single misplaced keystroke. Boo hiss.
oddmind, idea of give hard-sided carriers no longer used to animal shelters is excellent idea. Even tho I never go to FB, I heartily 2d valnt9's motion to put the suggestion on the Caturday pg there.
We still use both our hard-sideds, tho we've also 2 quite large soft-sided bought on sale at Bed Bath Etc some yrs back. One of 'em is the one dearly beloved still & missed Cheeky came over from W Berlin in. We gave the bigger one Gretl came over in to some associate from likely amateur radio who needed one.
Hop Along Cattiday & Animal Planet: some may have seen that AP will run Puppy Bowl from 3 PM to 3 AM EST.
Plumbicon & I need to go shortly to return Parts & Pcs to my chorus's rehearsal location, now that Kids' Religious School is over for the wkend. As Super Bowl is essentially a Night Game, I hope that phone call came in while I was putting my shoes on, was an agreement of help. We had no help Fri afternoon when collecting Parts & Pcs.
Also gonna go captionate differently, the pic James72 brought that catmandu did above. Meanwhile tho, Sickapie fetched this in, maybe as recently as last Caturday--
