This is the same woman who asked the president to do a little shuck and jive for her, right?

Color me surprised.

If the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES uses his influence to get your three-year-unemployed husband a job, lady, then not only should you vote for him, you should volunteer to fly to Washington and provide sexual favors.

If she votes for him and the democrat that hired him fires hi, the day after the election, would she be wrong?

And I got your husband a job.

Of course she's not under any obligation to vote for him. That would essentially be buying a vote. At least this wasn't as tacky as Romney tossing that lady a fiddy.

2012-02-02 10:12:47 AM
This is why despite the disagreements people may have with his politics, Obama still retains good personal fav/unfav ratings. The cynic in me says he did this for good press only, but how many politicians actually go out of their way to do stuff like this - especially POTUS? Hardly any, ever.

Also, whose the cute news anchor in the clip embedded in TFA? :D

You know the funny thing? When this story first broken, the woman said that she'll probably vote for Obama if he can follow through, even though she's a Republican.

Ah. So she's just an AW.

Honestly, she sounds eminently reasonable:

"Just because he's able to send a resume out, that's not going to be a vote factor," Wedel said.

"We're just one American," she said. "There are thousands of Americans just like my husband with no job."

That's a very fair thing to say. If you disagree with Obama's policies and think they are bad for the country, you probably shouldnt vote for him just because he did you a personal favor.

Very true. But if what Rex says is accurate, I'm still going with AW.

You vote for policies and principles. Not favors. The latter being one of our big problems.

That's a perfectly fine thing to say, sure. It's just that when a week prior, you said that you probably will vote for Obama if he delivers and then suddenly change that assessment after he delivers, then it just makes you sound opportunistic.

2012-02-02 10:38:13 AM
Well, Romney says her situation is fine because there are safety nets in place. She should vote for him.

The only reason Obama was able to help her is because the other candidates can't find google even with a Chrome browser and a bookmark.

I saw it on The Daily Show the other night. She asked Obama if he would "show off his dance moves" not dance a little jig but it was still cringeworthy. The f*cking POTUS just asked her to forward her husband's resume, then asked if there's anything else he could help her with, and she actually asked him to DANCE. It was unbelievable.

It's bad enough we have downright hateful disrespect of the President. Have people just simply forgotten how to behave?

I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt--that she had that question ready as kind of a cute joke, possibly after the Al Green thing, and was thrown off by him offering to help her husband. But her subsequent statements now make me think she's just an AW'ing ass.

He is still black you know. She may not be ready to vote for one of them yet...

//Borrowed that language from one of my dad's racist POS friends.

2012-02-02 11:46:54 AM
Her point was the jobs being given out like candy to foreign workers by companies here and the government's compliance by giving out work visas for them. The import version of outsourcing. He was totally clueless on the issue and didn't even know that US workers in the industry were having issues finding jobs.

So I'd agree with her not voting for him unless he does something to address the issue.

She lives in Texas; does it really matter?

Diogenes: Of course she's not under any obligation to vote for him. That would essentially be buying a vote.

Why shouldn't she sell her vote? Congresspersons from both parties do it every day of the week, in public, with no shame or remorse or any seeming embarrassment at their open display of graft and corruption. Really, let's stop pretending here. Why shouldn't citizens sell their votes? Why should they be held to a different standard than members of the political establishment?

History's greatest monster indeed.

And when he does address the issue, I'm sure you'll find something else to dislike about him.

Jennifer Wedel said Wednesday that she felt like she was "hushed up a little bit" by Obama when they spoke, but that she also found him candid and appreciated his accessibility. "I don't think any other president has shown that outreach," Wedel said.

Are you shiatting me lady? You felt hushed up a little by the farking President of the United States? Wow, where the hell did you get that enormous sense of self entitlement. The POTUS is talking with you, one on one, about your own individual life situation and you're going to biatch about how you felt hushed up a little bit?

I'm calling hackery. This chick is the new Joe the Plumber, full of shiat.

Whether or not she votes for him is irrelevant. The amount of good press he's getting from her failed attempts to make him look bad is worth far more than her simple vote.

Probably because they don't send their resume anywhere.

This woman needed the president to forward a resume to recruiters?

You know, I used to think the same thing about my Dad's friends. Until I became friends with one of my Dad's friend's son, and when he said the exact same thing about his Dad's friends I realized my Dad was also a racist POS. This was quite a while ago of course, but it's funny how hard it is to detect racist POSs among family members.

So Obama is in fact a job creator...?

2012-02-02 11:55:40 AM
So, what's the deal? He is an EE who has been out of work for three years?

I did not see the original information, so I may have that wrong, but if that is the case it says more about him than the economy. My wife has a friend who's husband was an IT guy. He lost his job (in some undetermined way) years ago and has been working odd jobs while they live in her mother's basement. This area has essentially full employment for IT workers. Either he is not a good employee or he just doesn't want a real job.

TFA says that after the resume was sent to area companies, he got calls from recruiters. I wonder how much of that was due to his actual job skills and how much was due to the publicity from the president himself trying to help out.

However, considering that he got calls from several recruiters, I interperet the "interesting" comment as him saying that her husband's job skill was in demand and that he shouldn't have much trouble finding a job, even with foreign visas added into the equation.

Are any of the GOP candidates going to limit the number of work visas or prevent companies from outsourcing workers overseas?

The fact that all they had to do was send his resume to recruiters to drum up some interest tells me they've been sitting on their asses biatching about foreigners taking all the damn jerbs instead of actually looking.

find out what sort of jobs get H2B visas and tell me the qualifications of the average unemployed worker. I think you'll find a bit of a gap

Sounds like she got played from a lazy ass husband. "All the foreigners are takin' the jobs! One even took the Presidency! That's why I sit here and drink beer all day!!! Now make me a sammich."
