Is it odd that I like the painting by the apprentice better than the painting by the master?

The Mona Lisa was proven by computer analysis to be Leonardo Da Vinci drawing himself as a woman. Not surprising considering that he was a total poofter. A flaming, fabulous poofter. Cool as all heck. Smart as heck too. And in Florence in those days, there wasn't anything un-Christian about being a poofter.

The modern ideas about marriage and gays is just that, MODERN.

Modern "family values" as Christians profess 'were taught by Jesus himself' didn't actually exist as a societal norm until the founding of the USA, when the Puritans came here. Such ideas were not common in Europe.

And what Judaism taught (which is what Jesus was, a JEW) is quite different.

Modern 'family values' don't come from Christ. They come from Puritanism and all its offshoots.

I really don't get the appeal of the painting.

Canton: Ambivalence: Is it odd that I like the painting by the apprentice better than the painting by the master?

Nope. Mona Lisa's twin does look younger...

I'ts not just the colors. I like the facial dimensions of the copy better. it looks more authentic.

FTFA: The copy had been on display at the Madrid art museum for years without experts being aware of its importance.

Experts are stupid.
