My mom's bloody bulldog does the same thing, except with dog beds.
There are several small dogs in the house as well as the bull dog, so there are varying sizes of dog beds, about half of which are big enough for the bull dog, one of them is huge, I bought it specifically with the bull dog in mind.

What happens is the bull dog tries to get into the tiny chihuahua beds, some times with one paw in each bed, some times by squishing it under her tubby bull dog butt.

It's pretty comical.

I had a basset hound that did the same thing!
He would get into my yorkies bed instead of his. My yorkie would give him the evil eye the entire time he was in it, but it had no affect.

Maybe it['s just me, but that dog looked really sad. Like it was obeying commands but doing so was depressing and degrading.
