Too bad you aren't allowed to give blood. In exchange for a single unit of my precious O2-carrying circulatory fluid, I get coffee and Fudgee-O's. I mean, who doesn't like Fudgee-O's?

I think the red cross only wants blood from virgins of either sexual orientation. Mention anything interesting about your life and chances are it disqualifies you from donating blood.

Not a good day in the QC division at Pfizer, that's for damn sure... although they're having a baby shower for Suzanne, Rita, and Domenique later so there will likely be cake!

Pfizer Inc. is recalling 1 million packets of birth control pills due to a packaging error that could raise the risk of an accidental pregnancy by leaving women with an inadequate dose.

Pfizer needs to be slapped hard. Birth control is not something to be taken lightly.

Yeah really I can't give blood because of my tattoos, well that and my low blood pressure causing me to pass out about 50% of the time blood is drawn.

I consider myself pretty tame but the red cross must equate me with a needle sharing hooker in Nigeria. My body is filled with horrible horrible blood, but that's what happens when you get a tattoo at a place that has better cleanliness than many hospitals I've been to.

Tattoos incur only a 12-month restriction; one of the reasons that I never got one in the Navy because I try to give blood 4-6 times per year. Male-on-male sex gets the Pete Rose treatment, however.

WRONG!!!

Just market them as Conservative Birth Control Pills- Just as effective as an abstinence only education program, but now in convenient pill form!

I will dispense pecker pills.

In all seriousness, my fairly boring life is why I do try and give blood as often as possible. With no ex-prostitute girlfriends, dura mater grafts, Accutaine use, injection drug or steroid use, yellow jaundice, visits to Africa, sex with men, tattoos, piercings, or work with monkeys or their bodily fluids (that's a new one) I'm pretty much the perfect donor.

The gay thing is bullshiat though. I'd have no fear of getting a blood transfusion from almost any of the gay men I know, assuming they were the right type. Whereas some straight people... ugh. But hey, apparently after six months, the straight AIDS stops being infectious, whereas the gay AIDS does not, at least according to the blood bank. Sheesh.

I know a LOT of junior enlisted sailors that learned the hard way about that being completely false. Result: ugly wife, ugly baby.

I have a friend that is a physician that says that the pharmaceutical companies are in dire straights. He says that the insurance companies are hardly approving anything but generics, and that there are no incentives at all for pharma companies to come out with new drugs. Additionally, what he prescribes largely depends upon what Wal-Mart has on their list.

Any thoughts on this?

/truly curious

I got snipped last month for this exact reason. Improperly packaged birth control gave us our second child a bit earlier than we planned.

I'm really curious about how these pills were improperly packaged.

It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Every BC pill that I've ever taken was sealed in it's own separate little pocket on a blister pack. It was quite easy to visually check that all of those pockets contained pills. It was just as easy to visually check that those pills were not placeboes, since the placebo pills were always a different size and colour than the active pills.

Maybe the packs are manufactured differently in the USA. I guess it's possible that they make all the pills the same size/colour, but then I wonder, who the hell would think that is a good idea?

Best birth control ever invented is the aspirin tablet.

Take one, hold tightly between the knees.

Repeat as necessary

So, 9% of women practicing abstinence randomly get pregnant?

My head hurts.
