What a sad sad display this game was.

I'm glad I didn't watch the game. Snoozefest.
I'm not glad I was sitting in traffic for over an hour while the game was on.

Yup. Adding Nebraska didn't help in that department. But now you guys at least have a decent NCAA Baseball team in the ranks.

I'm just curious what Missouri or some other fast-paced, high-scoring team would do in the B1G.

Are you trying to be a fanboy? Missouri played Illinois (not the top team in the B1G). The final score was 78-74. Hardly a blowout.

B1G basketball teams routinely play other conferences. If anything the cross conference games shows other conferences are over-rated (see IU).

I actually buy the explanation that the balls might have been over inflated. Increase the bounciness of the ball and any banked shot is screwed over.

It'd be interesting to see the percentage of banked vs "nothing but net" shots made and see how much they differ from normal. Not sure if there would be enough "clean" shots for a statistical analysis though.

WOO Illinois! We beat #5 and #10 but lose to freakin Penn State.

So inconsistent.

MSU is way overranked. Losing to NW is much worse than losing to Illinois.

Well after this they will probably be around 15-20, which seems about right to me.

Whenever I see people making comments like this, MSU ends up in the final 4.

Watching the first half, there was some credibility to that theory. Balls were flying off the rim and more than one guy had a dribble just sail on them.

That being said, those are two very tough defensive teams, MSU lost Green for most the night, and Illinois has no clue what it is doing on offense. It was not going to be pretty. Also, the refs were... inconsistent.

Seriously Illinois, you have one of the few legit 7 footers in college ball, why does he spend whole posessions setting ball screens 25 feet from the basket? We should have three plays: give the ball to Meyers in the post, try to give the ball to Meyers in the post but have Paul drive instead, and kick outs to DJ.

Fanboy? Hardly. I have no rooting interest outside the East coast. I just chose a fast-paced team that could conceivably be in the B1G. It's different playing one or two games against a conference as opposed to playing a 16 game schedule.
My point was how many times would Mizzou be held under 60 points, and how many times would they top 90 against the whole conference.

Actually I just looked at these stats. Through 262 games this season B1G scoring stands at 69.77 whereas it finished at 69.57 last season through 370 games. So in effect scoring is up at the moment with Nebraska in conference. (Probably because everybody else gets to play them?)

Here are the "major" conferences:

Big 12: 72.13
Big East: 70.72
SEC: 69.80
B1G: 69.77
Pac 12: 68.78

Indiana and Iowa combined Sunday evening for 192. Anomalies like this crap-turd of a game happen, but it's not like every B1G game is like this. At least pick on the Pac-Turd for a change.

Nah, I'm a Nebraska fan, I just can acknowledge our suckitude at basketball. I'll bandwagon Creighton for that. Whatever.

Not nearly as exciting a basketball game as the 69-56 Baylor victory over Washington. The Huskies just didn't have an answer for that Perry Jones III.

Well, it was someone with "III" in his name, anyway. Pretty sure it was Perry Jones.

Illinois seems to run there motion offense like none of the players has a purpose for being out there. Screen, pass, screen, pass, screen, pass, screen, pass, shot clock running out, chuck up bad jumper.

It's Perry Jones III. There's also Quincy Acy, Quincy Miller, Pierre Jackson and Brady Heslip on the team.
/also Logan, Deuce, AJ, Cory and Jacob
//but they aren't as good

I liked 'em better when their best players were named Lacedarius and Tweety. Saw them at the Old Spice Classic in '09 and my daughter couldn't get over those names. (My nephew, her cousin, played against them. Lost in OT.)

I wouldn't call us high-scoring, but it's not going to be pretty for the other teams when we get to the SEC from the current indicators.

there was a game about a year ago in Champaign where they used the wrong sized ball.
