I don't have Legionnaire's but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Yes, that's quite clear from the recurrence.

Legionnaire's sounds fancy.

If it had happened at Caesar's Palace at least it would fit with the theme.

I stayed there once and at 4 am the fire alarm went off because the fitness room was burning down. Sounds like the place hasn't improved much.

Ignoring the "Entertainment" options, it's not bad if you upgrade to a suite. Never get a room where you have to take one of the "Inclanators."

But shouldn't the pyramid shape have focused all the positive healing energy into those people and cured them?

When in December? I was at the Bellagio from December 10-13 :) First time in Vegas, loved it.

Is this like the MGM's offshoot hotel? I'm staying at the MGM Grand in May...should I be worried?

Dropped by the Luxor a few years back to check out the Bodies exhibit, wasn't really impressed with the hotel itself. We stayed at the Bellagio, very classy but it kinda had a "corporate" feel to it.

There might have been a point to this post at some point but I've utterly forgotten it. Now if you'll excuse me, I see a cloud I'd like to yell at.

Surprised to see so many people talking poorly of the Luxor. I enjoyed my stay;. It wasn't amazing, but it was decent when I was there (Oct 2011, for Halloween and UFC 137 - probably the only guy not wearing a BJ Penn shirt that night - I wasn't very popular when I started cheering for Diaz) .

It was clean, active, decently priced, the people were pleasant, etc.... I didn't really have anything negative to say about it. Also, I'm not dead, which is a pretty big plus.

Nasty disease. I have a friend who was in the hospital for over a week with it. Still not sure how she got it. But it kicked her a$$. She is all better now though.

You should be fine if you are home by now. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. STD's also can't travel back with you. The mayor promised.

Sweet! I was there over new year's. Won $200 at blackjack. And also festering death, apparently.

The Luxor used to be pretty fun back before the MGM Resorts suits decided to detheme it. I liked the cheesiness of the themed hotels that made the hospitality experience in Vegas unique. Luxor really embraced the Egyptian theme, with the restaurants and bars all named after Egyptian gods and goddesses and the hieroglyphics on the walls. Now it looks like every other wanna-be LA douchebag magnet in Vegas.

Pocket Ninja: That place really is a shiathole.

Are you speaking of the rooms specifically or the whole place? I stayed at the Excalibur in December, and the room really was unimpressive. Not exactly shiatty, just blah, and tangibly worn. Like a high-rise Motel 6. I actually had wanted to stay at the Luxor but there was nothing available at the time (in my price range anyway).

RumsfeldsReplacement: Is this like the MGM's offshoot hotel? I'm staying at the MGM Grand in May...should I be worried?

The majority of hotels on the strip are owned by MGM. There's no reason to be worried, but if you want the finest, stay at Wynn or Wynn Encore. Steven Wynn sold Bellagio to MGM so he could build Wynn. Bellagio's been all downhill ever since.

You might also want to avoid Room 3018. The jacuzzi, window sill, shower and "workspace" table may or may not have been contaminated a few years back.

2012-02-01 11:15:36 AM
Stayed there 5yrs ago because one our friends just had to have a room in the Pyramid.

It's a real shiat hole and the craps tables suck. We actually got told we were making too much noise in the casino...they can all Eff Off.

MGM is nice, although I like it better when they had The Flying Monkey Bar. I like to stay there if I have business @The Convention Center, as you can hop right on the Monorail (Monorail!) & be there in 10 minutes.

When you check in, see if they'll upgrade you to a "Celebrity Spa Suite."

We were offered an upgrade to a suite in the pyramid for $70/night. We got there and it was shiatty and dark. And to my surprise, the windows aren't floor-to-ceiling despite how it looks from the outside. I went back to the desk and took the basic room instead. It was also shiatty, but it was a comp'ed room.

Oh yeah, and despite the not-great accommodations, the casino is decent with good table mins, the 24-hour diner has some good food that won't break the wallet, and it's connected to Mandalay Bay which is much nicer. When staying at the Bay, I often head to Luxor to gamble for a bit cheaper.

How can the gambling be cheaper? Do they offer half off all bets or something?

They just wanted you to get the feel of "The Seven Plagues of Egypt".

Not that good, but a Pai Gow table with a $15 min instead of $25, or Craps/Blackjack table with a $5 min instead of $10, that adds up over time.

The Luxor is the only casino I've ever been kicked out of. Apparently they don't take kindly to drunken idiots throwing up at the Pai Gow table at 3pm.

Just before Christmas. My sister lives in LV, so the novelty of the town has really worn off for me. We were actually in town for a wedding (nephew got hitched) - only stayed at a hotel because we wanted to avoid the mob that was descending on my sister's house for the wedding.

The only nice thing I can say about the Luxor is that the hooker who propositioned me in the lobby was really cute and had a great come-on. Friendly, not too pushy, killer smile. (Before you ask, no I didn't, you horn-dogs.) A girl that good should be been working out-call, not stalking the casino floor.
