This is so messed up. What I have a hard time believing is that none of the kids ever mentioned anything. We're talking about average third graders, not toddlers or profoundly disabled kids who can barely communicate. Even if they didn't realize there was anything wonky about the stuff they were "tasting" you'd think it would come up in the course of a conversation at some point -- of course, kids do sometimes mess around with food in the classroom so that in itself might not seem like much.
