Well the thought reading machine was getting depressed at all the "Red" and very little "Green" so they cut that out

Question: will the measurements taken of one person's mind work to decode another person's mind (i.e. if they program the machine to read my thoughts and then put you in the machine, will it read your thoughts without first being reprogrammed to fit you)?

If it's not having any effect now, it won't have any effect then.

So, when Windows boots from hard drive instead of my head, will I be disappointed or relieved?

Neither. It means your brain blue screened again.

The thing that always got me about that was the assumption that transmitting terabytes of data (one would assume) over a payphone with an accoustic coupler was actually doable.

Well, it is doable. it's just that 1TB at 1200 baud is what, 2.3x10^17 years? :)

That was the part that bothered me, too. I was using a 300 baud modem at the time, and 1200 was just coming in, but wasn't usable in most areas without upgraded lines, since POTS twisted pairs were so noisy. I was waiting for the upgrade to come to us when that film came out, and it annoyed me that the film proposed transmitting fantastically high density of data over those same kinds of lines. Even assuming (and this would be very unlikely) that the intermediary lines would handle it, the terminal equipment surely wouldn't. It just didn't make sense. And yeah, that's where the pop-sci film about a brain-recording machine lost me.
