Romney won.

Whoever wins, they'll lose.

Damn. I was really hoping Newt would pull out the win to crank the madness of the campaign up to plaid.

Way to strike while the iron is hot on greening a new thread. It's basically over, and as anyone honest could have predicted, Romney won.

Of course it is hilarious that he won't even get 50%. What a clownfest.

Once again, Obama wins

2012-01-31 07:51:50 PM
I want Romney to win just because it will cause these dumb-farking conservatives to feel all sorts of wonderful, brain-melting, spittle-flecked rage as they stomp around their double-wides.

Posting in a younger, prettier FLA primary thread.

It'll be pretty funny when the old folks who hate Obamacare realize they have to vote for the program's namesake or its progenitor.

Sorry Florida voters, the GOP chooses. Thanks for playing along.

There are some counties in Florida that Newt won by 30 points. I think this might inspire him to keep going. His ego is gigantic and any little ray of sunshine will make him feel like he can still do this thing.

ahahahaaaaaaa Freerepublic pulled all trending topics on the polls, so they "don't influence late voters" Sideboard Moderator: " No exit polls, please".

I said it in the other thread, but it bears repeating:

Romney could very well ride to the nomination by winning a bunch of states that he has no real chance of winning in the fall.

I guess he could win Florida, and Utah (and a lesser extent Idaho and Arizona), but it seems that Newt could still pull out wins in traditionally very Red States (like he did in South Carolina) but Mitt will put him away by getting larger minority wins (say 45 to 30 to 20 to 5) in traditionally Blue states. It will get him nominated, but it's not a good wave to ride into the General.

Damn the polls were dead today. I can only hope this republican apathy carries its way into November.

We really need a few dems to sneak in at the state level to even things out.

Good. The more time, money and effort he invests in this, the more hilarious the tantrum will be when he finally has to admit he's lost.

Romney won despite the fact the he personally force fed shrimp and bacon to holocaust survivors while screaming "No such thing as Kosher on Kolub, you wrinkled farks"?

At this point, I pretty much expect Santorum to back out and endorse Gingrich which will give Gringrich an excuse to keep going through Super Tuesday. Then it'll be over.

I think it's interesting that thus far, no one who has won a primary, has won with a majority of the votes. Instead, they've won a plurality. I think that's what's going to keep this a two-horse race until the end, because neither Newtie Newt or Magic Mormon Undies has been able to take more than 50%.

It looks like most of those are rural counties with low vote totals overall. That probably means something.

2012-01-31 08:05:29 PM
Dammit, Frothy. Drop out and endorse Gingrich already and make this a race again.

Total committed, entering tonight: Gingrich 23, Romney 9, Paul 3, Huntsman 2 [Unknown: 25 IA]
Superdelegates (according to Frontloading): Romney 16, Gingrich 1, Santorum 1

FLORIDA: Romney 50,
GRAND TOTAL: Romney 75, Gingrich 24, Paul 3, Santorum 1

Santorum's kid seems to have had a miraculous recovery. Back on the trail today, but not in Floriduh.

Over under on him dropping out before March?

That's true, but Romney's totals actually exceed Gingrich + Santorum this time. That's significant, since those two guys are really what's left of the "Not Romney" movement. (Ron Paul and his voters being off in their own little world)

I really hope Newt can survive for a while and win most of the deep red states.

The reaction from Republicans when they realize the moderate and liberal states are choosing an empty suit from Mass. to be their candidate will almost be worth enduring the soul crushing blandness of a Romney campaign this fall.

I'd say don't count on it. If anything, the Dems will be apathetic.

I did think Newt would finish closer than 48% to 31%

Thank fark, now I can stop hearing those shrilly hysterical radio ads about Romney every 30 seconds on my local oldies station.

Yes radio, I am now fully aware that Romney supports *gasp* WOMEN'S RIGHT TO CHOOSE, clearly he is history's greatest monster. Also, Newt Gingrich isn't afraid to stand up to liberal elites and the mainstream media and tell them they're WRONG, because he's fighting to take back American for REAL Americans. Really. The ad says that.

Well, the northwestern counties haven't reported yet, I bet it'll end up closer than that.
