His character on '30 Rock' is definitely an acquired taste. The character is hilarious to me.

His general behavior outside the show? Not so funny. But I wouldn't give a farking penny to my estranged mother-in-law, so there's that.

Amendment to reason 2: But we all have a crazy relative or 2, and no matter how stupid our specfic reasoning for doing something to spite one of them may look to the outside world, it usually makes perfect sense in our heads. If he wont give his (Apparently) estranged mom some cash, I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt and think maybe she did some f-ed up shiat. Or maybe Im just cold hearted. Either or.

Jesus H. Christ, editor. He gets off the occasional good line on 30 Rock. I'd never feel the urge to see his standup but he does his job on the show, which is to turn any given plot toward the absurd.

Granted, Denise Richards' line about playing a nuclear psychiatrist was the funniest thing I've seen on that show in a while.

Anyway, I've seen a couple interviews with him, dude's got a lot of anger. Not Spike Lee anger, but he's not turning the other cheek to the folks he thinks are just trying to soak him for his celebrity or bank account either.

That's one of the weird things about names in America; occasionally, men's names become women's names but you never see a name go the other way.

Anyway, in another 50 years, I expect someone will be going, "who'd name a dude Charlie? That's a girl's name."

The article says the Mom is $25,000 behind on her mortgage, because she lost her job last year. Well, assuming the longest-case scenario, she's been unemployed for 13 months? That's a mortgage payment of just under $2000/month...if she's paying by herself we have to assume she's living alone, so, why not sell the house for whatever you can, then take the cash and buy something else outright? Yeah, you'll have to downsize and move, but guess what: you've been unemployed for a year, do what you got to do. Better than losing it completely and having nothing at all.

Of course, "last year" could mean December...in which case, time to give up the McMansion you can't afford, Ms. Jordan.

I find it far more interesting that with the quality of writing on 30 Rock that TM still manages to be so mediocre.

it is amazing how many people watch a tv show they don't like. I think 30 Rock is hilarious, almost everything about it is on point.

I watched 30 Rock for about a season on Hulu. Cant say it was very good but the main reason i stopped watching was this buffoon, he's about as entertaining as watching grass grow.

He goes on Stern and kills it. Except he's yelling half the time, but the jokes themselves are pretty funny.

Stern has tried several times to find out exactly why he and his mom are estranged. This has been going on for a long time. I think in a 2006 interview, he said something they had just started talking again after 10 years of no relationship.

He gets very defensive and changes the subject, so she had to have done something to really scar him, and no, not a C-section type scar, because we know he loves those.

It cracks me up when people say "regardless of what happened, it's your mother and you have millions!" Those two have zero correlation. He may have offered 2k b/c she was dicking around with money, and he has said in the past he's hooked her up with a house and some financial help, so maybe he's just tired of her pissing it away, ever thought of that?

/I love 30 Rock, but have to admit, his character is pretty much in the shiatter.

I don't know if it's intentional or not, but he overacts superbly to me on 30 Rock. Anything less and it would be believable, if that makes sense. I actually doubt it's intentional but this may be a time when a douche pretty much acting as idiotic as he is in RL, works out well. If he wasn't so good at it (natural or not) lines like "Tracy owns the only giraffe basketball team. They're called the New York Necks" don't work. Which, to me, was funny in itself, but then the continued 'Go Necks!' in the episode added to it.

Tracy morgan has always had an estranged relationship with his mother. There were lots of drugs on the sides of both parents. Eventually his dad got clean and changed his life. Tracy moved out of her house while in high school (before dropping out) to live with his father and his siblings soon followed. He took care of his sick father right up until his death.

His mother asked for money and he was willing to help her until he found out she had been selling stories to the media. Once he cut her off, she did exactly what she denied doing from start: she ran to the media.

Family members can be your worst enemies. I see no reason to support someone who treated you like shiat growing up. My mother was an abusive biatch, so she will not be on my list of people to help if I ever get a cash windfall. It is what it is.

Actually Kevin Smith blames Bruce Willis and said Tracy Morgan was the only thing that kept him sane.

What a shock that Smith would say that. I did see that bit and Smith was pissed that Willis was pissed that Smith didn't know what number lens he wanted. So I can see Tracy being more tolerant of amateur hour than Willis. But the only one I blame is whoever thought it was a good idea to give Smith that gig. I like Kevin Smith's Jay and Silent Bob movies for what they are but nothing on his resume screams "Bruce Willis action movie".
