"We are living in the Obama economy." - Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY)

2012-01-31 03:26:04 PM
"the industrial heartland of America is humming with jobs again as a region once left for dead recovers faster than the rest of the U.S. The turnaround may shape this year's race for the White House as President Barack Obama seeks to reverse Republican gains in the Midwest"

So the region started recovering once they voted in Republicans? This is bad news... for Obama!

2012-01-31 03:26:22 PM
Good for them.

2012-01-31 03:27:14 PM
I don't think you're getting how this works subby. Obama only gets credit for things that go WRONG. If they go right, they either happened because of the GOP House, in spite of Obama's efforts to stop whatever it was, or Bush gets credit.

2012-01-31 03:28:05 PM
So is subby arguing that Obama's policies have greatly benefited these states and that is why they are recovering? Or that this is some derpy conspiracy to game the election in his favor?

2012-01-31 03:29:24 PM
But don't mention Wisconsin, which can't keep jobs to save its' life.

2012-01-31 03:29:25 PM
Pennsylvania?

2012-01-31 03:30:44 PM
These are places where there are no jobs so the black people moved there. Black people vote for Obama. Now that there are jobs, sarah palin is automatically president forever.

2012-01-31 03:31:19 PM
This is great news as a Michigander and Troll not living in the Detroit area.

Pennsylvania? Midwest?

This is all due to the House's continuous obstructionism.

Man that Bloomberg is turning into a regular alternative reality Fox News

Close2TheEdge: So is subby arguing that Obama's policies have greatly benefited these states and that is why they are recovering? Or that this is some derpy conspiracy to game the election in his favor?

But Obama doesn't want to apply those plans to the rest of the US? Or is it clandestine government spending approved by Congress?

PA is in the midwest?

2012-01-31 03:33:59 PM
Does this mean I can stop serving coffee to self-righteous pricks that come to Starbucks?

i lived in PA for about the first thirty years of my life. Aside from philadelphia, that state is culturally VERY midwestern.

Ken VeryBigLiar: But don't mention Wisconsin, which can't keep jobs to save its' life.

THIS. Wisconsin is hemorrhaging jobs thanks to Walker. But two billionaires in Kansas get their payday, so I guess it's all good as far as Republicans are concerned.

And don't forget that IT is booming like it's 1998.

They couldn't say it on the internet if it wasn't true.

3 out of four of the Governors are Republican so no surprise that they are doing well.

Jesus God, that headline made my head hurt.

PonceAlyosha: PA is in the midwest?

Well, they did only reference Eastern PA, which has much in common with the manufacturing economies to its West. It feels very Midwestern when I go there. Much more than Philly.

But don't tell Pittsburghers that. They're certain that they're in the sophisticated Northeast... like New York City. They're nothing like those rubes in Cleveland.

Erie, western PA, and Pittsburgh are culturally Midwestern. Philly is culturally East Coast. Middle PA is culturally backward.

that's the part I'm from! And yeah, it's something like a cross between the midwest and northern florida.

I know I couldn't find shiat for work in Indiana in 2010 as a new graduate with a shiny new engineering degree. Left the country and now have no plans to go back.

I like the mention of the hopeful jobs project being mentioned in the mine up 'Nort. Not the competition with places like California or North Carolina for bio med people at Madison or places like Whitewater/Oshkosh and the like putting out fairly good graduates who usually stick around; nope, a mine that has just about everyone pissed off.

Good.

Can we reform Wall Street now?

Yeah we're in the Goldilocks economy

And don't forget that those WMDs are in Iraq.

We're gonna find them any second now.

well to be fair they are also doubling down on the bullet train even though their own estimates:
- have the speeds a lot slower than forecast.
- has a cost way higher
- has ridership much lower

california math = winner!

Scranton reporting in. Full of Giants and Eagles fans (we Eagles fans are lower profile this week, obvious reason), the local AAA baseball team is the Yankees, and we have a sizeable population that commutes from the Poconos into NYC for work.

Maybe west of State College they're Yinzers, but we're decidedly East Coast here.

Economy tanks ten seconds after Obama takes office - All his fault
Economy recovering after over 3 years of Obama presidency - He had nothing to do with it

OBVIOUSLY

Yep. As an engineer i always tell kids thats the last degree they should ever pursue. I also tell them it's a good idea to get out of the shiat-hole known as america.

No, no! California is collapsing due to it's libby lib liberals that hate business and illegal aliens and they will fall any day now which is why I'm so happy that I moved to Phoenix and away from that dump!

This is a repeat from 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983...

Any day now.

I need a new dictionary. I didn't know "doing well" meant the same as "letting the gas drillers rape the state for free".

tenpoundsofcheese's thought process:

"Let's see... this thing can be spun any number of ways. It IS good news overall. But I need to figure out how to get the maximum amount of derp out of it I possibly can. I could bash the Democrat states for not stepping up to the plate, OR I could claim that 46 out of 50 States are failing under 0bama...

heh... I COULD take the high moral ground and just say this is good news... naw, that's stupid. I've gotta partisan this sucker up!

*sigh* I guess I'll have to do a little bit of research if I want to come off as brilliant. *looks things up* oh wait! 3 of the 4 are Republican governors? COOL! I've got it!":

Well, on a national level that's good. Merely because America sucks hard at education, healthcare, drug laws, labor and actually returning services to the taxpayer instead of whoever has the most wealth.
On a state level, Indiana pulling a bunch of fundamentalist bullshiat and their cops are pigs who will attack you for videotaping them.

Nadie_AZ: Can we reform Wall Street now?

cdn1.alexanderhiggins.com
No. Get into a kettle or stay in an area and let us surround you. Then obey our order to disperse. But if you try to leave the area we will assault you. If you refuse to disperse, we will assault you.
And remember, defending yourself or tossing back canisters that we shoot at you is rioting. You do not have a right to self-defense.

Santa Clara's numbers for November were 9.1%, Silicon Valley is at 8.5% so hardly booming compared with the rest of the country.
