oh good, the article mentioned cooked tomatoes. They still have the cancer-fighting chemicals when they're raw, but something about applying heat makes them more effective.

Careful... cooking makes some things easier to digest, but can also lower some nutritional content, like vitamin C, K, etc. How much of a nutrient is available can also depend on whether the food is cooked in oil or not.

In the case of tomatoes, cooking increases the amount of bioavailable lycopene, yes.
