Doctors in Peru have found a "parasitic twin" in the stomach of a 3-year-old boy

...who will announce his candidacy for the GOP Primary today...

I hate to take us down this path, but where does the parasitic twin fall in the philosophy of pro-lifers?

/ just for the record, I'm morally opposed to abortion but I don't think it should be illegal. I also think there are morally justifiable reasons to have an abortion. But, without good cause, I think it is immoral. All the same, not illegal. legality is about the reasonable and pragmatic regulation of society, based on a combination of the desire of the people and the maintenance of certain socially important protections that are not to be infringed upon by public whim. morality is about some doctrinal and non-teleological structure that is not necessarily related to a pragmatic performance of society. Both are very important to the individual, only one should be considered important to the state.

...never developed after the fetus was absorbed by the other fetus inside the mother's womb

That is sibling rivalry on a whole new level when you kill your twin inutero.

bleah.

They said the twin has a fully-formed head and eyes. I wonder if it has working ears, because that would mean it's probably listening to everyone talking about how they're going to cut it out and throw it away to save their son and it's thinking "b-but...I'm your son, too..."

Is this just a 'numbers thing'? Why are all of the creepy disorders in third-world or (at best) emerging nations? Is it a medical care thing? Can I assume that in the U.S., Europe or Australia (among others) that a mom going for an ultrasound and finds an octopus growing in her makes some choices before giving birth.

Parasitic fetus stories really creep me out. Hell, I am scared to death of getting a tape worm! I get pissed when a mosquito bites me and I go down that path of thinking about using my blood to hatch eggs... gross.

Abortion is murder. He should have carried to term, and accepted this beautiful baby as God's gift.

He should have resorbed it, so when he grew up he'd have the strength of a fully-grown man and a baby.

There once was a boy from Peru
who had a baby brother up his wazoo,
it was a parasitic twin,
not really human
so abortion was the thing to do.

The more accurate term for this is "Fetus in fetu."

I have a friend whose sister had this.

So if you're born with extra limbs, can you control them? These are the things I think about, like sand through the hourglass...

I saw on some television show they did a surgery to remove a HUGE tumor on a 30-something year old Indian guy, and lo and behold it was a parasitic twin: hair, arms, fingers, toes, even a partial brain.

Like harlequin babies, it was something you could never UNSEE.

That's a great argument. Chapter, verse, and version?

I thought the fetus got its soul during the quickening.

There can be only one.
