Thanks for the clarification. As is now obvious, I don't follow African football closely.

Lesson one is that the continental competition is referred to as the CAN rather than ANC - Nelson Mandela et al not being involved :)

Toon win!

And for the next game we'll have strikers!

I would like to announce that there are currently more points between Arsenal and Spurs than there are between Arsenal and West Brom (12 vs 11) who are currently in 15th. That is all.

How many of those points were given as hunts to 'Arry for services rendered?

NUFC just got absolutely dominated, very lucky to get all 3 points. I guess it makes sense though considering we didn't have our center mids or strikers. Its going to be tough to play the next couple of games without Cabaye and Tiote even with the Demba's coming back.

The better question would be, how many MORE points would Spurs be ahead if they were robbed by bad luck/terrible refs in the Stoke and City game (moreso in the Stoke game than City, obvs)?

These stories were all too familiar in Europe in the 80's and 90's, now it's spreading to the middle east. Between everything happening politically in Egypt, football was a good outlet and an escape, but it's also a place to vent apparently. Very sad indeed.

'A CPS spokesman told the BBC that, as a common law offence, there is technically no maximum sentence for the charge - meaning that an unlimited fine or prison sentence could be decided at a judge's discretion.'

See: Link (new window)

CPS = Crown Prosecution Service.

If found guilty, I'd guess a fine with possibly a suspended sentence. Not my area of expertise.

Also, PLAY KERIM FREI!!!!

This x10000. Sports, like all entertainment, is supposed to be an escape from the troubles of the real world. Unfortunately, too many idiots refuse to let that happen. Egypt saw it happen today. Just like we saw in Italy a couple years ago. And like in Los Angeles, Vancouver, San Francisco and Philadelphia in the last nine months. It's disgusting.

Did you see that ludicrous display last night? What was Wenger thinking sending Walcott on that early?

The problem with Arsenal is that they always try to walk it in!

2012-02-01 08:59:41 PM
A couple of transfers with potential for Celtic, but too early to see how they may affect the first team.

More importantly, Rangers sold Jelavic and failed to pick up a replacement striker. Which is nice. I fully expect to win the league this year. Possibly the treble. It's been some time since it was this good to be a Celtic fan.

Heavily bummed I'm down to my two last episodes. I still have Boosh,FM and Nathan Barley but it won't be the same.

Are you really going to complain to an Arsenal fan about missed calls? That's almost as bad as complaining about all your injuries. How many games have you played with 3rd stringers all on the defensive side? Or started your 3rd string gk?

Sort of 4-2-3-1 formation for United:

Sutherland; Weir, Ioannou, Blackett, Ekangamene; Hendrie, Rudge; Barmby, Daehli, Van Velzen; Byrne.

Two of the best players missing, McCullough and Januzaj.

As a 'pool fan I have no trouble coming out and saying that we are far, far, far from good enough to seriously compete in the Champion's League. I'm not even sure we could make it past the qualifying round and I'm damn sure we wouldn't make a serious run in the group stage if we did. I'm happy with sixth in the league and no Euro football, especially the horrible Thursday/Sunday Europa league schedule. I think it's a decent competition to win, but seriously, fark Thursdays/Sundays.

Fairly even until 35 minutes.

Barmby capitalised on defensive mistake.

Two minutes later, great move, Van Velzen tap-in.

Stroke of half time, Barmby shot, blocked by Byrne but it fell kindly for him and he scored.

Missed the 4th live :)

Blackett is awesome.

Some technically gifted players in that team. Mostly first-years, too.

Spurs or Charlton at home in the QF.

aside from the fact that's a false dilemma (assuming qualification, a couple key summer signings could take us on a good ride in the cl), the point about the cl is the extra money it brings in, and the fact that many players and transfer targets want to play in it.

if we sneak into 4th (and i still believe we will), it will make the club a more attractive destination for top players, and will bring in additional revenue. i'd rather bomb out of the cl than face another year of no european football.

but i do agree with you, i'd rather finish 6th than 5th.
