Thank God. Maybe now the fans here on Fark WILL SHUT THE FARK UP ABOUT IT!

You people are almost, ALMOST as bad as Firefly fans.

And like Firefly it was an ok show that had more hype after it was cancelled.

AD was freaking brilliant. I knew it at the time and was just waiting for the cancellation.

Firefly flans who pouted at the cancellation were geeks and Whedon fanboys who cried when a good show got canceled before it got a chance to be fleshed out. 14 episodes was not enough to determine if it would flame out quickly.

Arrested Development fans who pouted at the cancellation were fans of well-written, clever intelligent comedy who saw shiat like According to Jim get 8 or more seasons and wondered "what the fark?"

Oh yeah, well, whatever TV show you like is not actually as good as you think it is, so take that!

THIS!

Loved Arrested Development but I have no intention of getting Netflix to watch the new episodes.

AD was a farking brilliant show that should never have been cancelled, that's why people complained.

Speak for yourself - I watched AD from the beginning and recognized it for its brilliant self immediately.

Firefly I didn't come to until later, and that was my bad.

Firefly was not brilliant nor actually popular.

So's Community, and they'll probably cancel that. Hell, Better Off Ted deserved more than two measly seasons.

Actually, I could see Community fans becoming as insufferable as AD fans.

all the characters on those shows are way too robotic for most to care about.

that's my unsubtantiated opinion, and i may or may not be sticking to it.

Lsherm: Better Off Ted deserved more than two measly seasons.

"Better Off Ted" didn't get two measly seasons. It got one season interrupted by a hiatus so long it felt like two seasons. They basically cancelled it and then held onto the back-half of the episodes until they needed to fill some time. I loved AD, but I didn't feel bad about it getting canceled- it went out on top. I've got three really great seasons to enjoy. BOT is probably the most criminally prematurely killed shows in recent memory.

SpikeStrip: all the characters on those shows are way too robotic for most to care about.

Lem and Phil are the greatest comedy duo since some other sitcom with a great comedy duo. They were the Lucy and Ricky of the science lab. Honestly, I'd love it if they brought the show back with just those characters, and maybe the evil boss.

Lsherm: Actually, I could see Community fans becoming as insufferable as AD fans.

I think if they don't run off the back half of season three, "Community" fans have a better argument for having been robbed. I also think, since "Community" hasn't been poking their executives with an insulting stick, they've got a better chance of getting a 4th season renewal. I also think they should hang it up after S4.

Awesome. I'm really looking forward to those.

2 seasons of 13 episodes each is a good two seasons.

glad it came back.

I've been going through the entire series on Netflix. So far up to early Season 2.

Netflix was working on this and trying to get the rights for Reno911. If they just grab up cult shows and continue them, they might make some good money. Less than 2 million viewers during prime time might not be great for a network rating, but for a subscription network like Instant Watch...well that could be great.

While you're at it Netflix, resurrect Better Off Ted, snag Community if NBC lets it go, and make a Deadwood movie to give fans some better closure. I'll pay extra on my subscription even.

Freaks and Geeks
Pushing Daisies

AD was brilliant, clever, witty, and sophisticated. That's why no one watched it. Because most people don't have my superior tastes.

Ignoring claims about quality, will this really draw enough viewers? As a network show it always struggled to reach beyond a niche audience, and while there are certainly people who've since discovered it on DVD and such, will those really replace the drone viewers who will watch anything in the time slot after their favorite show?

I mean, it's worth a try as an experiment, but AD seems much more likely to stay in the "only special people like me appreciate this" than the "if people just give it a chance most (or at least many more) people will love it" kind of entertainment. Were I betting, I'd say the numbers will be tiny, but since the entire concept of Netflix new TV is new, they'll use it as a test case and trial balloon and thus not worry too much about numbers, then let it die and start fresh with the experience they've gathered for an original IP.

They stated before that they were going after shows which people streamed the most on their service, so they must have a rough idea based on the numbers of people who might be interested. Plus it doesn't need to do huge numbers in a specific timeslot.

I just wonder how they're going to inform people that this content is available.

farkityfarker: AD was brilliant, clever, witty, and sophisticated. That's why no one watched it. Because most people don't have my superior tastes.

There's a lot to be said for the stupidity of the American viewing audience. At times it is overwhelming.

Luckily, with channels like AMC and FX, an occasional good show on SyFy or USA, premium channels like Showtime and HBO (and occasionally Starz,) along with some choice pickups from BBC (Sherlock, Luther, The Fades, Doctor Who,) I have found much more quality television than I have time to watch.

That Netflix wants to get into the game and is deciding to make AD its flagship attempt bodes well for writers and actors instead of reality bullshiat.

Does Better Off Ted improve after 3 episodes because I'm just not seeing why farkers rave about this show so much.

I'd be more receptive to a new season of Firefly than I would a new season of AD. Alia Shawkat is looking kind of rough these days. Summer Glau still looks like Summer Glau.
