Just watched the performance. It wasn't as over the top as I expected, but this suit is still ridiculous. I believe in law school they call it a "Stop Hitting Yourself Suit."

"No one whores out my daughter but ME!"

1) Call local Department of Children's Services (or whatever iti called).
2) Tell them the child is being exploited sexually.
3) Show them stills and video from "Todlers and Tiaras."
4) Kid gets put in foster care.
5) Profit?

Anybody in the crowd at one of those pageants that isn't related to one of the consetants is more than likely a pedophile.

I work with children and the picture I see above of this girl isn't "sexy", rather it is "sassy" and if you've ever been around kids you'll understand that they can say and do things which seem very grown up to us, yet they have no idea what they are doing. I saw the TMZ video, and no this girl was not "gyrating" - she was sitting on a chair, bopping up and down and wiggling her bum - at the suggestion of the DJ. She also is only singing that one line in the song which is so repetitive that of course it is easy to learn. And maybe the mother shouldn't let her child listen to 'Top 40' radio, but who among us has never know a child to hear some radio music - maybe while shopping, at a friend's home or at an event. *** Do I agree with the pagent business? Not particularly, but it is an industry which has been around for decades and until the media got super-involved (as in the case of this show on TLC), most people who were not "from the pagent business" didn't know too much about it. When you put the behaviour of the child into context, then you can better decide if it is really a sexual thing or just a little girl with an out-going personality doing what children do as they learn - by copying what they see. Those of you making harsh judgements about the mother are not being fair.

You don't seem to understand the context, the developmental stage these kids are at, and you don't seem to understand how pervasive the media is and how subtle it can be as it invades our private spaces and places.

The mother has every right to sue.

Step 1 (preparation): dress your 5 year old like a 2 dollar whore

Step 2 (baiting the hook): take her somewhere you know she will be filmed and wind up on the internets and be branded as a 2 dollar whore

Step 3 (reel 'em in): When internets bite on that tasty bait, sue, baby, sue!!

This is like trolling for profit. I like it.

The only thing I've ever seen of that show is the clips from The Soup. My jaw pretty much hits the floor every time I see one of those clips.

Why DCF doesn't take every single kid that appears on one of those shows away from their screwed up parents is beyond me.

This is true.

Now, IANAL (and I am not a lawyer, either), but I predict she's going to have a hard time proving libel. I bet her game all along is to settle for a lot less.

FTA: "As a result, Isabella is now perceived sexually, erotically and pornographically, and (the stories) have placed Isabella in serious physical danger, attracting the attention of others who would seek to sexualize a child."

Dressing her in "sexy" childrens clothing (why does this even exist?), putting on makeup, and doing her hair like that in no way sexualized her. Just the people who commented on how horrifying it is that someone did that to their child.

I'm sorry, every one of these parents should be locked up for child abuse and exploitation. They're putting their kids on TV and the Web and giving pedophiles perfectly free and legal ways to enjoy looking at their kids.

I personally like the tone mom's using in the clip..."Sing (you little trollop)" "SING (or I'm getting the belt out when we get home)" "SING! (or I'm gonna let my boyfriend touch you there... again)".
I hope she wins so she can afford the kid's therapy... Neither of those thing will happen and this kid will burn down mom's house.

I think a lot of showbiz mothers are insane, but nothing comes even close to the lunacy that is a pageant mom. Does anyone know what states these predominantly take place in? I'm just curious, because I suspect it is states with little to no child labor laws in place.

Mostly Texas, but it's spreading... a lot.

Makes sense. Texas has no real laws re: child actors, and their "permit" is a joke -- Short application, birth certificate, and a card stamped "Actor" is sent to the parents that is good from the date issued until the minor is 14, at which time they no longer even need the card.

They never ask what the production is, check up on welfare, schooling, whether or not the work is appropriate for the age of the minor.

I also just realized she performed at an event in Providence, RI -- a state without solid child entertainment labor law and no permitting system. I always suspected that was the case with these shows, but never looked into it. I can't see them being filmed or doing live performances in CA, AK, NY, PA, GA or any state that is strict regarding what the minors are doing.

So what do you tell the mother that dressed her child up like the whore from Pretty Woman? Is that just sassy?

Pageant moms should have their children taken away from them. Those poor kids don't have a snowball's chance in hell of having a normal childhood.

So seeing Janet Jackson's barely exposed breast for 1 second brings every hammer in the country down but watching parents parade nearly naked kids on TV all night long is fine?

Money wins over common sense and morality every time.

Except it wasn't a private space. She was in a public "night spot" having her daughter perform. And with the song line, what the hell does she expect? Why can't she sing something more kid friendly. Like, I don't know, farkin' Itsy Bitsy Spider?

This is not a normal situation. Don't try to make it out like it is.

Kill the mothers of these kids, put the kids on an island somewhere, and let them raise themselves "Lord of the Flies"-style. I bet they'll end up better-adjusted.

I don't think the FCC has the jurisdiction to do that. However, there are definitely child advocacy groups for minors in the entertainment industry who are doing their best to try to protect these children.

The biggest problem, though, is a lot of state laws have not caught up with changing times and there are loopholes that the production companies exploit to preclude reality TV. New York just revised the laws to explicitly include reality and treat it like any other TV show or movie with regards to permits, education, finances (trust accounts for a portion of the earning) etc. PA is working on it after it was brought to the attention of the state Attorney General that the kids on "Jon and Kate Plus 8" were never permitted, and were not being remunerated, and many laws were broken.

I think in the next few years, we'll see more focus on protecting these kids, but it looks like the production company knows where to, and where not to, go for anything they will actively be filming, airing, or directing the minors in. Shady bastards.

Same here. Regardless of what parents think they're showing the nation about the joy and social value of child pagents, reasonable people know these shows are little more than spank fodder for pedophiles.

Where's all the outrage we normally direct to child molesters and pedophiles? Shouldn't these mommies be skinned alive, dipped in vinegar and dragged backward over red-hot fishhooks? Like all the freaks and queers watching their darlings on TV every night?

I've only seen clips of T&T, and what bothers me isn't that the kids are made to look adult or sexy, is that they're made to look not even human. It's like a small doll, and I suspect that's how their parents see them as well - a plaything or object. Very sad. I have no idea how that show is on the air and the kids aren't taken away.
