You know, normally I'd invite Newt to EABOD and STFU, but I rather like it when he keeps saying stupid shiat, inasmuch as it reduces the chance (albeit a small one) that he might become president.

I have no doubt Obama would crush Newt in the general election, but it's not worth the risk. At least Romney isn't a narcissistic sociopath who's clinically insane. He's a douche, but it could be worse.

Idk, I'm against healthcare for everyone simply based on the fact that there's too many damn people.

I'm getting really tired of all these GOP ads that say America has run it's course and that everything is ruined forever.

That's the kind of rhetoric that gets people killed. As least, hopefully killed, because if you're just injured...

Yes, Newt has no shame and will say any kind of inflammatory nonsense if it will get him attention.

This has been known for sometime.

I swear. To hear the GOP tell it, America is the most horrifyingly terrible country on the face of the planet and our future is one of pain, misery, and doom.

Pre-Castro Cuba, you say?

Brothels flourished. A major industry grew up around them; government officials received bribes, policemen collected protection money. Prostitutes could be seen standing in doorways, strolling the streets, or leaning from windows. One report estimated that 11,500 of them worked their trade in Havana. Beyond the outskirts of the capital, beyond the slot machines, was one of the poorest, and most beautiful countries in the Western world. "

- David Detzer, American journalist, after visiting Havana in the 1950s

I wish!

You know, to hear the conservatives talk, the US is a horrible place to live. I suggest they move somewhere else where there aren't so many liberals making those annoying laws. I hear that Somalia is a libertarian paradise since there is no functional government there.

You know America is heading down the path of the Soviet Union with his idea of a government funded Space program to put people back on the moon.

Newt is desperate. He knows he needs to win Florida to have any shot. He's going to pander and spin as hard as he can. Note he hasn't mentioned Cuba or his moon base outside of Florida. There's a reason for that.

Cuba and Florida have a secret moon base already and plan to attack with the Nazi's in 2018?

I completely disagree. I would even submit that Romney exhibits more personality characteristics of someone with a disorder than Newt does. Newt may be a self-centered lunatic, but every once in a while he can show signs of a faint flicker of human emotion. For all of his faults, Newt is actually a fairly well read person; he even had televised discussions with Christopher Hitchens about current events (and held his own). On some level, there is at least a base level of intellectual curiosity about the world with Newt, believe it or not. He's still an amoral nutjob, though.

EVERYTHING Romney does or says is in the service of Romney. This is a guy who would never even dream of reading a periodical or journal unless it somehow impacted his ability to siphon off more wealth from American society. There is no fundamental perspective of the world with this guy; everything is filtered through the prism of personal empowerment for him. This is precisely why he comes off as so stiff and creepy when he speaks publicly; everyone knows that he's only capable of mimicry of human emotion. This is also why Newt flew out of SC with massive momentum; his petulant moment of emotional whining served to underscore how reptilian Romney is in comparison.

Then of course, there's the dog thing which, frankly, turns my stomach more than Gingrich's vile past with his wives.

I'm telling you, Romney would be 10 times the disaster for this country that Newt would be.

What a hellish health care system they have...and they have a lower infant (and child) mortality rate than the United States, so there's even more of a chance that you'll share a restaurant or plane with a screaming bastard.

In 2007, the life expectancies at birth were as follows (World Bank data):
Cuba, 78.26 years;
World, 68.76 years;
Latin America and Caribbean, 73.13 years;
high income OECD countries, 79.66 years;
United States, 77.99 years.

The mortality rates for children under five in 2007 were as follows (World Bank):
Cuba, 6.5;
World, 68.01;
Latin America and Caribbean, 26.37;
high-income OECD, 5.71;
United States, 7.60.

The 2007 infant mortality rates published by the World Health Organisation in 2009 were:
Cuba, 5;
World, 46;
High income countries, 6;
United States, 6.

The only Cuban-American GOP House member in south Florida to endorse Gingrich is Rep. David Rivera, who is under a cloud of criminal investigations.

I swear, you couldn't write a script like what is happening in this GOP nomination campaign. It's awesome!
