BiggityBanninated: DaFlava737: IMO, Taker HAS to lose the streak at his last Mania. He is old school. There is no reason why he shouldn't put someone over. I don't think it would be any kind of legacy killer or anything. Apparently, guys like Edge and Orton have already been offered to break the streak but declined. No, HHH shouldn't break the streak, but some up and comer heel (ziggler/rhodes/barrett, or even heel Cena to get over as a super heel) should beat him next year. And I think Taker would agree. Again, just my opinion.

/flame away

Streak should end with Taker's retirement match after a long build up.

The only people on the roster qualified to end the streak right now are Orton, who has no business in an angle with Taker, HHH who would draw fan hate for decades, Cena who sucks, and Jeritroll.

There could be a lot of miles in a Punk / Taker feud where Punk basically says "I am an atheist, Zombies don't exist" and then proves it by destroying Taker but I don't see that happening.

I don't think Punk/Taker would work at Mania considering Punks current promo's are basically finger of gods and breaking the fourth wall. He brings up Hell in the Cell where Taker screwed him out of the title due to backstage politics and its over right there.

No flame. I respect that opinion, because I agree, Mark is old-school. You go out looking at the lights. Period.

THAT SAID. I don't think that streak gets broken. EVER. That is Mark's legacy. His mark on the industry, more than anything else. He has enough pull, and I'm sure, enough ego, that he doesn't want that particular record tarnished. Besides. I frankly *want* him to go out 20-0. Shiat, man, hasn't he earned that? All the guys he has "made famous?" He'll make one last up-and-comer famous before he goes out, of that I'm sure. Because he *IS* old-school. But that streak? It will live forever.

THIS FOREVER

I agree with Tenor. Taker is on a level that no one else will ever touch. If anyone ever deserves to not go out "staring at the lights", it's Taker.

Holy carp! A thoughtful, rational discussion with very valid points to be made on all sides? On MY Fark? What bizarre world have I woken up to?

My thought: I think Taker has transcended the streak. I think the best way to respect what he has accomplished would be to leave control of the final chapter of his career up to him. He has more than earned the decision. I will say, however, that if he wishes to break it that it be to an up-and-comer who could draw the most benefit from it, not someone already established.

My God, imagine Punk or Bryan breaking the streak. The IWC would spontaneously collapse the space-time continuum.

Roughly a month between birth and in-ring return? Never mind recovering from the birth, you also factor in exhaustion from some sleepless nights with a crying newborn, and that's even more impressive.

This could be the best thing for her, career-wise. It was an event to have a guy like Andre on the card and it helped elevate his mystique. It was exciting if he showed up, much like the Undertaker's current appearances. Adversely, look at the Big Show. There's nothing special about his ring appearances because he's on TV every single week.

I'd love to see Kharma wrestle part time for the next year and have a squash match at Wrestlemania (maybe finish off the Kelly Kelly storyline, or better yet just finish off Kelly Kelly altogether). Have her wrestle in squash matches, building up her character and keep her away from Phoenix. (A Diva heel will need to hold the title at this point to justify keeping Kharma out of the title picture.) Put them in an elimination match at Survivor Series (building to a one-on-one or double countout) then build towards WM. (I'd use Natalya as her opponent at Rumble and pass the belt off to her then.) But then again, I just typed that paragraph as stream-of-conciousness, so what do I know?

Didn't announcers say Ryder shattered his pelvis? Or did he fracture his occipital bone? Maybe he dislocated his groin?

Whatever...next week they'll change it all to a sprained wrist so he can take another AWS Certified Libertarian beating from the Big Red Activist.

Though a great heel turn would be if Cena embraces the hate, and gives an attitude adjustment to Eve's ass. Pull and Edge/Lita type swerve.

DaFlava737: It is just the way guys like that go out (the big locker room leaders). Look at HBK (Mr. Wresltemania), people don't think of him as someone that jobbed his way out. He put over the streak. Or even Austin losing to Rock. I just don't see any upside to Taker retiring with the streak. It doesn't make him more marketable for appearances. The attraction of Taker is big enough, and if he can put over a young main even talent (in a huge way), I see no reason why it wouldn't happen unless WWE (Vince) refuses to let him.

There's a value to the company to have "records" and "legends" that they can use in marketing for decades.

That's just stupid. He was obviously "embracing hate" when he repeatedly hit Kane with the steps.

Here's my prediction for the "Cena Embraces the Hate" watch:

Ryder comes back from his injuries, but is still being stalked by Kane. Ryder confronts Cena and ends their Bromance because of the constant attacks by Kane. Cena snaps and goes berserk on Ryder, marking his full turn to the dark side.

It's a tragedy. Even though the baby can work, HHH refused to give it a push. He says it underperformed at a house show and is too small to draw.

2012-01-31 11:16:47 AM
Here's a HHH-UT thought if Shawn is the ref.

We pretty much have the idea that HBK as ref is a dusty finish. My guess would be that as expected HHH looks good and is about to go over but HBK won't count the pinfall. If he couldn't end the streak, no one can. Taker takes advantage and the win.
That way:
1) HHH doesn't officially end the streak and get tons of heat backstage
2) HHH can spend the rest of his career stroking his ego in promos going "Everyone knows I TRULY beat the Undertaker"

Everyone wins except us....and everyone but HHH

My predictions...

Cena's heal turn will be stealing Eve from Zack somehow. Setting up a Zack/Cena feud leading up to or after wrestlemania
HHH vs Taker will turn into a career match.. HBK will ref. HHH will actually lose but they will both be done.
CM Punk vs Jericho for title... "End of the WORLD as we know it"... best wrestler in the WORLD... blah. Jericho will win it at mania with a clownshoes involvement and next will work on being "undisputed" champion again.
Daniel Bryan will get to find out about too many Limes by Wrestlemania and drop to Shamus.
Dolph just got buried by RKO. He will drop back to US Title status and feud with Twagger for the rights to Vicky... lose.. then go on his own.
Cody vs Golddust this wrestlemania... book it. Cody goes over but Goldy and Booker get last laugh.
They will push the hell out of Karma starting in a few weeks... She will face and beat Phoenix at Mania.
Santino and Foley will team up for a tag title run. they will beat Epico and Primo at Wrestlemania.

IF WWE allows for a Cena heel turn and not just another run of "beating the snot out of the roster heels", I don't see it involving Eve. I see it as Ryder realizing that Cena is responsible for his injuries at the hands of Kane, Cena arguing that he's not responsible and losing his temper. Cena then shows Ryder what a beating he is responsible for feels like and we get Cena/Ryder in one of the post-Wrestlemania PPV shows.

Ideally, if they run with Undertaker/HHH again (please, no) I could see it being that HHH is forced to resign as COO in order to take the match, then his career goes against 'Taker's streak. 'Taker beats HHH and at the following RAW, when they are set to salute HHH on his in-ring career, Vince gives him back the COO job and The Undertaker announces his retirement.

Jericho versus Punk - I could see that one involving a guest appearance by Stephanie being the brains behind Johnny Ace. John was so inept at costing Punk the title after he walked away from the company with the belt that she had to bring back Jericho to finish the job.

I see Daniel Bryan/Sheamus being at WM, with Sheamus winning, then Jericho taking Sheamus on in an effort to unify the championships.

Cody versus Golddust, with Goldie putting Cody over.

Kharma's return at the Rumble was a one-off. Expect Kharma to be back full time after WM.

I would mark out like a six year old for the "Sock and Snake Connection", but even Foley has stated he needs several weeks of conditioning to get back into fighting shape. If Foley appears in a match at WM, I could see "Sock versus Snake" building to the team up. However, I suspect Foley to be involved in some manner in the Cena/Rock match.

(Not to single you out, but you're the easiest post to quote, so...)

I keep seeing people say this, so I'll ask: How did Dolph get buried? I'll admit I wasn't paying 100% attention, but it seems as if he got a lot of offense in... it wasn't a squash match. Yeah, he didn't win, but one loss doesn't exactly bury the guy, does it?

I can, however, see him and Vickie parting ways at some point in the future; he doesn't need her to get heat anymore. That might only come if he turns face, though.

Last night was in no way a burial of Dolph. If anything, that was a sign of respect from the higher ups as to Dolph's ability; he was the first singles opponent for a top guy returning from injury. Anyone coming back off an injury after any significant length of time always wins the match, in an effort to show that they are completely recovered to the fans. The fact that it wasn't a squash match is a tribute to Dolph's ability to work.

Dolph cutting ties to Vickie could be the fastest way to put Dolph over as a face. All he has to do is drop her like a rock because of the number of times she's cost him a match or respect and he's instantly a face.

I agree, and disagree.

I think the Rumble appearance was a one-off designed to remind people she exists. However, I also think they're going to get her in the mix for a Wrestlemania payday. probably bringing her back after Elimination Chamber in the monthlong lead-up to Wrestlemania.

Hey fWc:

MoP here

Been off-line most of the last few weeks, getting to look in occasionally, but not able to really get into the threads.

My grandson's reaction to Funkasaurus tells me it is probably played out. He like the first coupleof appearances, but was kinda "meh" the last time. Move on creative and get a new spin for Clay (keep the chicks involved though).

The angle with John Cena getting darker and darker looks to be paying off for the big turn coming.

Ziggles doesn't need Vickie anymore, but she may need him. Thwagger would be a heat vacuum for her by himself.

I still say #shutupcole

and Laryngitis almost got canned, but for that little unfinished business that popped up for 3H.
