On the "Completely Useless Skills" scale, this ranks somewhere between cup stacking, and being able to balance a broom on the end of your nose.

It's a super power like that episode of family guy where meg could grow her nails at will.

She's doing this ridiculously fast, though - if you can decode your own "backwards pronunciation", perhaps the skill is useful in security of some sort.

I read the headline as 'cute chicken can talk backwards'.
Disappointed that there was no backwards talking chicken.

There was a young man who came on the "Rick and Bubba Show" a few years back who could do that. He had a mild mental condition; can't recall if it was an autism spectrum condition or a form of Tourette's, but it was pretty wild to hear him do that, too.

But can she actually say the words backwards? When I was a kid, I used one of these:

There's a big difference between saying the words backwards, and saying the word that is formed by arranging the letters in the word backwards.

Some brains are wired to do strange things easily. I (like a lot of folks) can write backwards in cursive with no hesitation, while others find it tough to do so.

/ I can't print backwards as easily, though

agreed. I was disappointed. I thought the second half of the video was going to be the first half played backward.

I can't even recite the alphabet backwards when I'm sober so I'm totally screwed if cops pull me over for a field sobriety test.

THIS!

For example a simple word like Pepsi, she says "is pep". It would be more like "ease pep" backwards. It requires a higher level of thinking to pull that off. It's easier to flip the visualization of the letters of the word around than it is to grasp the phonetics of each syllable and reverse them.

Thought it was 'cute chick can walk backwards' and it was that one that faked the flu shot problems. In that one's defense she did become one of the most 'aisle seat please' moments in youtube doubler history:

I had an odd habit of saying and writing things backwards growing up. It takes a certain kind of verbal dyslexic to recreate the rise and fall sounds of words accurately on the fly though.

/Wonder f there could be a link between OCD and dyslexia

Given foreign language fluency, she'd probably make an excellent translator... the kind that translate on-the-fly in your headphones at an international conference. Though it sounds like she was pronouncing the reversed words based on the new letter order rather than phonemically such that re-reversed they'd sound right, it still indicates an unusual facility with processing language.

Yeah a lot of those words were shorter, but lamborghini, kaleidoscope, and some of the short phrases made that quite impressive.

I looked at her YouTube comments and I didn't see them swamped with horndogs. How is she different from the Dancing Eyebrow 13yo (new window) who got about 1/2 disguisting sexual comments and had to turn off comments?
