Voight told the crowd he was backing Romney because he was "strong" and "honest." He declared President Obama had "decided to follow his father's footsteps and take us to socialism."

It's hard to believe it was just 50 short years ago that Obama's father instituted socialism in America, the shackles of which were finally thrown loose by Bush's tax cuts.

Anyway, it's refreshing to see conservatives take such an active interest in his father. I don't think I could even tell you the names of, say, Bill Clinton or Jimmy Carter's father, and yet Lolo Soetoro, Sr., is a household name among these rigorous presidential scholars. I wonder why they're so interested in that side of his family? Must be because they've got such funny names.

Don't ya just love how the corporate social conditioning pogrom has worked over the last generation? Right now they believe that anything short of giving the super -ich and corporations everything they want is socialism. That the govt doing anything for it's people is bad. The military-industrial-media complex has done it's job well. Fascist Imperialism is alive and well in the US. Cheered on the the plebs who have been brainwashed into thinking that it's their neighbor's fault their life is miserable. All because they joined a union. or are getting some assistance because their job doesn't pay a living wage.

WOw. Has Mitt Ever come across as more of the Mormon Stereotype than at this moment:

And, in a repeat of a line he often repeated on the presidential campaign trail here four years ago, McCain joked about Zsa Zsa Gabor's sex life.

Noting the other dignitaries on hand, McCain said, "I feel a bit like Zsa Zsa Gabor's fifth husband. I know what I'm supposed to do, but I don't know how to make it interesting."

A few feet away, Romney let out an awkward giggle.

Now we'll leave aside McCain make a farking Zsa-Zsa Gabor Joke (He may as well have just stood up there and shouted "I'm Old" in his best Abe Simpson voice); you have Romney visibly uncomfortable that McCain is "working blue" and then trying to cover it up and act like the "cool dad" by over-praising the joke:

"I thought we only brought one actor and comedian here today," Romney told McCain when it was his turn at the mic. "Gosh, that was quite a repartee there, senator. That was fabulous."

And he talks about it like it is a place. America is a basket of sleeping infants, and mean ole' Daddy Soetoro is dropping them off on the doorstep of the Orphanage of Socialism.

Here's what makes me INSANE about this whole "Obama's daddy wuz a Socialist" Bullshiat:

Obama met his dad ONCE that he was old enough to remember, he was hardly a significant influence on his life. His Stepdad (Soetoro) was a banker and Oil company executive fer pity's sake. If anyone shaped Obama's values it was his momma and his maternal grandmother and grandfather. Grandmomma was a banker and grandad was a furniture salesman and WWII Vet.

If Obama's skin color were anything but what it is, we'd be talking about what an "All-American" life story he had (Mom was from Ks fer pity's sake)

I would think famous actors would be easier for him to relate to than working-class stiffs.

"I started talking about my five boys," the candidate explained. "I said, you know, it's easier to raise boys than girls. Well, after a long pause, he says, 'Tell me about it.'"

For campaign speech humor delivered by an automaton, that's actually pretty funny.

When I hear Voight, I think of the awesome shoes my mother forced upon me at Walmart growing up. "Here son, you can have any new shoes you want, as long as they are Spaldings, Rawlings, or Voits!" You know you're lower class when your shoes are made by a company famous for tennis balls.

Only the coolest kids in class had the anti-Jordans. Note the basketball player on the Voit rip-offs has picked up his dribble and is about to have the ball stolen, while real Jordan is in mid-slam dunk. That says it all.

I feel like 20 years from now that's what it will be. And I feel like history books will whitewash the insanity that is our current political landscape for a good long while.

Assuming we make it that far and aren't burning textbooks for warmth.

I'm more of the opinion that Romney is sailing blind if he thinks that the Independent middle and the far right even 'care' what Jon Voight thinks when it comes to political matters. Why should we? He's not an economist, nor a scientist, nor a military expert, nor a polling agent. He's an actor who's done some good movies, some bad movies, but over all, he's just an actor.

Why not get the endorsement of some dog groomer from New Jersey? A plumber? What makes Jon Voight worthy of note in this election season?

Really John? Zsa Zsa farking Gabor? Way to relate to the masses by making jokes about an actress people haven't talked about in 25 years. Jackass.

Dude, I feel your pain. Voit is a brand that I had completely forgotten. They were down there on the bottom rack with MacGregor and Pro Keds.

I got my folks to buy me Air Jordans one year (1990 I think) when I was in 8th grade as payback for wearing my rubber bands every day for a year. It was a hollow victory. The fancy shoes couldn't counteract the pain and inconvenience of wearing rubber bands for a year.

Good call. I watched on one TBS the other day and at the end "1992" popped up and I thought "I've got to get into a sitcom that is more recent than 20 years old".

Or maybe I don't.
