They have almost zero runway space to gain speed there. That rug is what the rear drive cleats grab to give them massive, instant acceleration to be able to get big air on an impossibly short runway.

That said, this is pretty much as dangerous as it gets. There's no bailing out, no correcting, nothing but a prayer once you've lifted. You are 100% all in as soon as you clear the ramp and its either you win or you're ...well, not winning.
