So a statement by someone who clearly didn't want to be bothered with an interview is newsworthy?

Why is it news that you don't have any claims to someone's estate after you divorce them? That's kinda the point of divorce.

since there has been so much confusion over the years of exactly what nonplussed means, it has become its own antonym.
non·plussed/nänˈpləst/
Adjective:
1) (of a person) Surprised and confused so much that they are unsure how to react.
2) (of a person) Unperturbed.
/ the first definition is the historically accurate, etymologically correct definition. unfortunately, peopled thought that it sounded like it was supposed to mean the second that it has been misused so much, the second is also accepted as a definition of the word.

The news part is that she couldn't care less who he left his money to or that it wasn't her. The bigger news is that she isn't already lawyered up looking for an angle to stake a claim with, like say, 99% of ex-wives out there. I applaud her for that
/to be fair, 99% of ex-husbands would too.

It's NYC, so he probably pays $12k / yr to a service, probably had a regular(ish) guy, at least he learned the guy's name. It's very popular there to have a driver, so you don't have to put up with traffic.
Can anyone else chime in, am I way off base on price? Livery service? Car Service?

A nice thing to do, but I doubt they'll actually get to keep any of the money, particularly if this guy had any kids or SO's walking around. The Wills of wealthy people have a tendency to be violated when they stiff relatives, unless the wealth has already been moved to trusts and the like before they died.

that word is the lexicographer's worst nightmare. anyone in the business of defining terms has been warned of this word. it's a hellish threat to any future semantics.
/ it may be the only justification of grammar nazis and those who feel compelled to deal with semantics. for the dread fear that this might happen to another word.

Did you look at any of those actual links, as opposed to the Google definition? Oxford says the second usage "is not considered part of standard English," and it's not given as a definition by Mirriam-Webster, American Heritage, Random House, or the World English Dictionary (those last two are according to Dictionary.com). And it's not in my paper OED, but that's a couple of editions old.

This could very well be the case. I've taken plenty of cars since my company pays for one if you have to work very late (which is a daily occurence during our busy times). Even though the drivers are randomly assigned each night in my case, there are a couple of drivers that I'm at least familiar with. I couldn't give you details on a price for that kind of retainer though.

"He could fark a nun."
Does this mean he was capable of nun-farking and suggesting that he did, on occasion, enjoin in sexual congress with a nun or nuns? After all, she goes on to point out he's deceased so surely he could not be a post-mortem nun-farker. I am confuse.
