Yes, but we already knew that speech and singing are controlled by different parts of the brain. It's why stutterers like Mel Tillis can't get a sentence out without serous effort , but can sing with no problem.

Still, it sucks to be her.

Heretic that I am, I seem to recall that they were actually capable of singing. Just not very well.

My wife has spasmodic dysphonia. One of the most interesting affects of this disease is that while there are treatments that can help make your speaking voice work better they have the side affect of destroying your singing voice.
In my wife's case she opted to have the nerves in her larnyx rerouted but now she can't sing.
