Huh, that's my alma mater--I graduated from that same high school (go Raiders!), many, many years ago. Sadly, as far as I know, the teachers were not blowing the students in my days there.

Bipolar disorder can do strange things to a person at times. I know a woman who has it and was found walking down a highway in the nude in a rainstorm and didn't know she did it until later. The disorder can make you intensely aggressive, moody as hell, periodically suicidal, turn an extrovert into an introvert and, oddly enough (since 99.99% of anti-depressives tend to knock the steam out of your sexual urges -- no matter what the lying companies say) can, at times, make you horny as ever -- actually, even more so.

Mixed with a borderline personality disorder, things can get a bit interesting now and then. For one thing, the sense of right and wrong can become blurred. Sometimes, the affected can KNOW it's wrong but the urge to do it over rides common sense.

Unless you've been there, it's hard to grasp. I'm bipolar and was pretty well an easy going guy, usually working in fields that required empathy and tact, preferring not to get into physical altercations. Until they got my medication adjusted (it took 8 different types and sometimes a combination of two and 5 years) I could be walking in a store and get irritated by cocky kids schulping around, imitating 'bros and ho's' and would find myself deliberately getting in their way, HOPING to provoke a fight. Most of the time with my hand in my pocket on my switch-blade.

I mean your mode of thinking just abruptly can change in a split second.

I started getting sick on my last job as a courier and was a manager, responsible for hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of freight and equipment. The owner pi$$ed me off towards the end and I deliberately stopped getting problems with my van repaired promptly, letting them worsen until a $20 repair turned into $1500. I stopped doing minor repairs to the other vans and drove my own as hard as I could.

Quite unlike my normal self.

At one time, during an argument with the bastige, we nearly came to blows. What made it ironic was that he replaced me with one of his own managers, who was ALSO bipolar, but hid it. (Except from me because I knew the signs.) The guy wouldn't take his pills and started hiding freight he was supposed to have delivered in the station. He'd sneak in hours early and hurry up and deliver what his previous days records showed had already been done.

Then I got into an argument with an area manager over the phone, lost it and cussed him out.

I also lost it and cussed out a picky receiving manager at a store I delivered to who liked to delay me when I delivered there.

I eventually got fired.

That led me into treatment, which eventually led me into disability.

Like I said. If you have a good case of bipolar, your thinking can change periodically unless you get a good shrink who manages to put you on the right medication.

So, depending on the mental illness, the treatment -- if any -- and how well the person is responding to it, I can understand a lot when I read reports of someone acting crazily and doing outrageous things.

BTW. Bipolar Disorder is almost ALWAYS accompanied by a secondary condition or more, ranging from a borderline personality disorder, to OCD, anxiety disorders, withdrawal from society, anger problems and, sometimes, self destructive behavior. Folks who haven't managed to get regulated, and it is hard, will have anything from regular to irregular 'breaks' and the severity of them will vary. Hyper sexuality is one, which no one cares about unless it affects minors. Usually, if it does, it never includes those under their teens. The victim has to have the overt sexual cues created by puberty.

Mostly, though, the affected goes out and screws his/her brains out within his/her age group. You've probably met 'those women' in bars who have a reputation for being real easy. Chances are, over 50% have a bipolar disorder.

Those of you who have gotten plastered and done something you never would have normally done that seemed exactly the thing to do at the moment, have just had a TASTE of what it's like when your normal mental function changes. Only, bipolar's do it without booze.
