It's not that bad of a definition, actually. Back in the day hipsters were called scenesters; they were the kids who wanted to look the part, but didn't have any actual talent. They could make up and quote the rules for being cool, but had nothing of substance to offer. So it goes with hipsters.

Gonna have to disagree. Most of the hipsters I know are creative. It's the pseudo-intellectual elitism that is the problem. That, and the perpetually tired, non-conformist clichés that they and other subcultures always absorb.

I love him. He seems like such a genuine and nice guy. No snarky comments here. His smile in his song with Zooey were just so....happy and sweet. The more I learn about him, the more I like him.

The fact that they drink that crap because it's cool is beyond me. Shiat, Grainbelt is a good beer, reasonably priced and tasted ok (and most of all the label is cool, but i'm a mn guy, so i'm biased). Nord East is actually pretty good.

After Third Rock, I haven't seen any performances of Joseph Gordon-Leavitt's that really impressed me. That if I didn't know who he was would leave me asking who was that guy?

I was in a local greasy spoon I sometimes frequent for lunch when a bunch of them walked in. Some of them were wearing scarves even though it was summer here in Alabama. Half of them ordered an off the menu item, telling each other that they just had to order off the menu. One girl asked if it was a chain restaurant, because that somehow mattered to her. This rundown little place in a strip mall couldn't look less like a chain if it tried. The guy she asked kind of blinked for a second, obviously taken back. I don't think anybody had been stupid enough to ask him that before. Luckily this place caters mostly to blue collar workers and rednecks who were all shaking they're heads at what a weird bunch of assholes they were, so I'll doubt they'll be back.
