I really don't get the Tyler Perry hate He seems like a genuinely nice guy. Yea sure his movies can be formulaic, preachy, and are not everyone's cup of tea but I just can't be shiatty at this man for busting his ass to go from being homeless to being worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Like him or not, he is a self made man and he didn't rob or cheat anyone else to get where he is. He found a demographic that was largely ignored and underrepresented by the entertainment industry as a whole and he catered to them and gave them something they apparently wanted to see. So what if he slaps his name on everything he makes or casts himself in every movie he produces. It's no different than Drew Curtis' Fark.com. While people are biatching about his characters and story lines and cracking jokes about his self placement in his plays and movies, he's laughing all the way to the bank with more money than most here will ever see in their lifetime.

GAH! I loathe that movie. Freaking hate it more than any of the Roger Moore movies. Aside from the whole Denise Richards as nuclear physicist (Unless she was talking to the bombs to keep them from exploding. I hate typos, too.), it was horribly plotted, roughly paced, even for a Bond movie, and had the WORST last line in the history of the series.

Because Tyler Perry is now a brand name, not just a person. And that brand name brings people in. Makes it easier to sell his latest project.

Who ever said they hate they guy? You can hate a person's body of work and everything it represents without hating the person. Maybe if I was black I might hate him because the minstrel show he puts on comes off as degrading but I'm not black. When you make the Wayans Brothers look like Richard Pryor by comparison, maybe you could stand to take a look at what you're doing, no matter how much money you're making.

I don't hate the guy. What you consider a minstrel show actually sells to blacks, because it can, in an exaggerated manner, show common experiences. Judging by my Hispanic inlaws, his work has a broader appeal than just blacks.

I hate Tyler Perry because he's a hack writer/director. Him being successful just makes it worst...

And I guess I'm TECHNICALLY the intended audience, but I also have more than half a brain, so it doesn't appeal to me.
