I hope it's a good game.
I'm torn as to who I want to win. On the one hand I hate the Giants. On the other: fark the Patriots.

Same here. I really couldn't care less who wins this game. The last one was interesting cause of the massive upset potential. I'm probably going to have to place a few bets on the game so I'll be interested.

Oh and before anyone chimes in with "b-b-b-b-but REMATCH!" They've already played each other a few times since that Super Bowl. Meh.

So living in New England and there is a very weird vibe around this game. I think Pats fans, in general, think this is an up-hill battle. I can't understand why the Pats are even favored.

/Growing up all of these Patriots "die hards" had Cowboy, 49er, and Steelers crap hanging allover themselves and bedrooms. Don't let the support fool anyone.

I would be for the Patriots if they would wear this uniform

How can anyone hate Coughlin? His facial expression progression throughout the game alone is worth the price of admission.

I hope so, I don't really care who wins, I just want a really good game.

Coughlin face + Manning face is always on display.

The Patriots have a great offense but their defense sucks in a way (gives up a ton of yards but not a lot of points like you would think). Eli is a much better QB than Flacco, and Flacco almost beat the Pats. So unless Brady just puts the game away early, the Pats' D is gonna make Eli look like Montana, Elway and Marino wrapped up in one.

Cruz and Manningham must be dying to play against the Patriots defense again.

Came in here to say this. The Giants offense is the best the Patriots have faced in two months. Cruz said this week that he hopes he sees Julian Edelman in the slot because he will tear him apart. The defense is playing a lot better than they were the last time they played the Patriots, so I think it'll be a good game.

Plus the fact that only 7 Patriots and 15 Giants on these teams played in that game 4 years ago.

Seeing that the majority of people in this country do not live on the upper east coast, there's just not as much interest as there normally would be.
Also, absolutely burnt out on hearing anything about Brady and/or the Mannings.
Play the game, get it over with, let spring begin!

Exactly. I am suprised he was even able to impregnate Giselle what with his dick being so chapped from all the media people sucking it. What will they do when he finally retires?

Move on to the next star to choke everyone to death on. Brady was largely overshadowed by the cock sucking Tebus got, and Rodgers earlier in the season.

Though it does bear pointing out that only one of said rematches has come in regular season, as this year was the first time they were scheduled to play them again. They play them all the time in preseason, but that really doesn't matter.

What does suck is that this game sets up well for the Giants. The only thing the Patriots have going for them is that their defense is a lot healthier than it was when they played during the season.

\was so farking tired of them even before XLII
\\half Shoepisser's fault for broadcasting a huge chunk of their games, half the NFL's fault for decided that even though we hate NY teams, we're in their NFC viewing area.
\\\Wish we'd just get the game of the week instead of nonstop NFC East all the time

I don't care who wins, I just want to see somewhere in the neighborhood of 65 total points and 1100 total yards. If they have to split those numbers up 80-20, that's fine.

Eli Manning is an elite QB because he can overthrow a wide open receiver by 50 yards, and the guy will catch it with his head

I was really hoping for a Niners/Ravens matchup. Or Niners/Pats. Or even Giants/Ravens (rematch of sorts of XXXV, I suppose). The one we got was the one for which I cared the least. But who am I kidding? I'll watch anyway.

2012-01-29 12:16:43 PM
I was at a Patriots fan's house for this game. He cried in his room for hours at the end.

Guy deserved it. He was a total douchebag, as is typical of most things that come out of Boston.

/Sweet, sweet tears

Can't wait to watch, and hoping the Giants win. Would be a happy payoff for a lot of people.

"When the Giants endured a four-game losing streak in November and December, their odds to win it all shot way up. The future payoff is based on whatever the odds were when a person makes a bet. So if the Giants had 80-1 odds to win it all and a bettor wages $100, the bettor would receive an $8,000 payout if the Giants claim the Lombardi Trophy."

Very true, there is always new or better over the horizon. I wasn't thinking clearly. But then I never do when it comes to the patriots.

Thank you, subby. Thank you so very, very, very much for posting this. For reals. My peak as a sports fan thus far, and I think the best this game can do is match it. The only things that could top it would be the Mets winning the World Series on a Game 7 walk-off or the Islanders winning the Cup in Game 7 OT. In other words, it's probably staying the peak.

Of the possible matchups, we got the most boring one. I'm debating even watching the game.

This game will be a blowout. I'm not sure which team is going to win, but they're gonna win big.

2012-01-29 12:40:33 PM
The only outrage I have are the idiots who put the Pro Bowl before the Super Bowl. What, would it kill you to wait, guys?

2012-01-29 12:41:05 PM
based on player-to-player matchups alone, the Giants should win like 40-7 with their easiest win of the season, giving Eli his second ring and pushing Peyton out of the manning spotlight with a wimper

but... based on recent history (especially 2011 sports players/teams), anybody who gets a second chance with a common foe in the biggest game is going to seize the moment (Rory McIlroy - US Major, Crimson Tide - LSU, Dallas Mavericks - Miami, Djokovic - Nadal), and NE is the only regular season rematch in the postseason that lost to New York in the regular season

so my brain tells me the book of Eli is going to mark the end of both Peyton and Brady's relevance to NFL history, but the sports gods think 2011 is a great year for second chances, dunno

2012-01-29 12:47:38 PM
It is kind of a weird year. Instead of having one of the better NFC teams make it to the superbowl we have the Giants vs one of the best AFC teams.

It should be Patriots no question, but I don't think the AFC teams are really that strong this year, so it is kind of an even match. I'll still take the Pats to win.
