Edwardsville Police Chief James Bedell said it was then that police fired tear gas into the area where Adams was located, in an attempt to get him to surrender peacefully.

It must be a good piece of news if subby managed to fit the words "beef" and "booby" all in one headline.

Schneider probably deserved it.

Ah Schneider, a few years ago a Schneider driver picked up a hitchhiker who ended up truckjacking him and leaving the Schneider driver naked and hogtied on the side of the road, well a hour later a JB Hunt truck sees him lying there and pulls over, the Hunt driver asks what the hell happened, when the Schneider driver tells him, the JB Hunt driver just shook his head, unzipped his fly and said "damn its just not your lucky day is it"

He means this with all seriousness. Covenant is a cristian company and more or less use that as an excuse to screw you over.

Case and point one driver that I met and have the up most respect for was crushed between two trailers. He survived but had a very long recovery, a recovery that he had to make in a crappy hotel room that the company owned instead of at home. Why? Because in Tennessee a company doesn't have to pay workmen comp to an employee that leaves the state and they were going to cut him off if he had left to recover and do rehab at home.

why did JB hunt paint the bottom of their trucks orange? so when the driver rolled them everyone would think they were Schneiders

2012-01-28 11:33:10 PM
I used to drive for that company. Paid well, kept me rolling. No real gripes.

Note that this guy had been injured. My best guess is that the company refused to pay his bills and/or his workers comp claims. Trucking firms screw with folks like that.

Gibbons, the state's attorney, said the police massed at the scene had done nothing to provoke Adams into shooting himself.

Sounds like the beginning of a cohesive story.

Yeah, places like that you take down the server room and any backups probably go with it. You ask their IT guy about offsite backups and he'll say "yeah, we should start doing that."

But we need to reduce deskside overhead. John from logistics can swap the tapes.

I worked at a place doing wifi tech support for about a year. The largest call volume was from truck stops. There is nothing like trying to help someone get their wifi working while they are negotiating a price with the hooker outside their rig.

That and having a guy explain, in great detail, what kind of porn he is going to watch once he gets onilne.

Was on a call when someone ran into the guys truck in the lot. All he said was "I bet it is a farking Swift truck"

line-spacing and carriage-returns... how do they work?

fta:

He said a local negotiator and an FBI negotiator had been talking by telephone with Adams intermittently
all morning.The 2 a.m. crash

resulted in a fire that drew firefighters from several departments but

they were kept away from the building by police out of concern for their

safety. The fire destroyed the truck cab but burned itself out before

causing much damage to the building. Authorities said Adams apparently set several fires in the company's
offices but those were doused by sprinklers.

As the person who currently does the reporting and compliance for a large trucking company out of Overland, KS and my uncle and my grandad drove truck for a combined seventy some-odd years I'm getting a kick out of some of these replies...

But if his claim was back or joint related, those are the toughest ones in terms of pin-pointing compensability. Not to mention you can rack up six figures without even cutting into a guy. I'm continually amazed how many of the aforementioned company's claims are just drivers falling off their rigs climbing down.

Destroying your scumbag employers property is a valid and useful way of dealing with scumbag employers.

I have personally used such strategy with great success.

Treat your workers well and you have nothing to worry about.

I also know someone who did that. Alcohol was involved. He went to jail for a long time, plus restitution of course. His 'beef' was that they caught him stealing money.

Ken VeryBigLiar: I'm getting a kick out of some of these replies...

Was a driver trainer for 5 large trucking companies and upgraded 36 students out of 39. Three years ago, I gave it up and opened a now successful appliance repair company in Tampa Bay. Have no regrets about trucking, and only had two real injuries in 11 years. I'm a Farker, so, "I got over it".

Seen and heard it all. Difficult companies and difficult drivers. That's just how it is. My favorite company was Knight and the best paying was... JB Hunt. JB Hunt?

The world depends on reliable transportation. You keep at it please. And with a Fark handle like yours, you must have been a driver once yourself. Cheers!

Thanks for that, but I knew early I was nothing special on 4 wheels, lord knows what I'd be on 18. My dad would bring it from time to time as nice way to make a living but the way my uncle drove- long hauls from Wisconsin usually out to Barstow or a place in Washington state that escapes me for the moment- that I didn't really dig it. He was a old-school guy about it from what I could see; home about four days a month still kept three sets of logs depending on who wanted to know what he was doing. I'm thinking he might have wanted to retire when he did because the outfit he drove for might have made him get a rig with GPS on it when his current truck was done with and when you put in 20 hour days like he had a very bad habit of doing it wasn't going to fly. But it was still partly a union shop so who knows how that would have gone over.
