Are you sure you're not the troll?

Wow, 17 is definitely legal here. They finally raised the age to 16 quite recently in Ontario. Before that it was 14. Obviously, it might have been illegal for other reasons - position of authority, coercing or forcing or sexing a prisoner or somebody who might be arrested, but a quick look at the California statutes suggests that 18 is indeed the age. Just wow. Seems weird.

So the moral of this story is: California's government sucks.

I remember back in the early 2000's Opie and Anthony, whenever Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's birthday rolled around, starting at like age 14 or 16, would sing them happy birthday and then announce on air all the states in which it was legal to fark them. I always read stories where a cop is arrested while in uniform/armed, it was bound to happen eventually. Good thing that fark head is the one that died.

Adult in a uniform has no business having sex with a minor, hell he deserved getting shot a little bit just for that.

California not only has a higher age of consent than most states, it also lacks any close-in-age exceptions that state laws commonly have to avoid over-criminalization. Sex before age 18 is uniformly criminal in California, even if both people are 16 or 17.
