I lived with the Lacrosse team in College. Someone actually had to survey this? Heck, I could have told them this for 1/2 the price.

2012-01-28 12:45:17 PM
Hahaha, I guessed right on my first try.

/played d3 lax
//I only boozed but but knew most of my teammates did a whole lot more

Hobart Lax was afraid of nothing, and I mean nothing. Lol.

Let's make it 3-for-3.
Hell, this isn't news, it's barely even fark.

2012-01-28 04:14:20 PM
I was going to say "crew", but it makes sense that it's one of the whitest of white-bread sports around.

2012-01-28 04:52:22 PM
TFA: The survey found 48.5 percent of lacrosse players used marijuana...

That sounds low. I don't think I've ever met a lacrosse player who wasn't stoned.

2012-01-28 07:18:39 PM
Hmm... Oh wait, I was thinking "drunk." That's why I guessed rugby....

\roommate my freshman year played rugby
\\I heard from my other ex-roommate that he actually pissed in the trash can one night while drunk....

2012-01-28 07:25:50 PM
I guessed it right on my first try too. I remember partying with the Lacrosse players in college. Even the rugby team had to take a knee when they would go out with those guys, and at my college, those rugby players drank bottles of Jack on the sidelines.

2012-01-28 07:44:14 PM
By the questionable headline, I was gonna go with squash, but this makes sense.

2012-01-28 09:16:53 PM
Fair word of warning: DO NOT pass out around these guys.

/A Sharpie'd face will be the least of your worries.

Ahhhh, college. I used to party hard with college athletes back in the day. The chess team... they were.. unreal. I remember they used to eat two oreos at once and double stuffs at that. I couldn't hang. Good times, good times

2012-01-28 10:11:50 PM
Sure. Blame it on the redskins yet again.

2012-01-28 10:12:16 PM
Rugby without reading the article is my guess.

2012-01-28 10:14:58 PM
Hockey was my second choice. I'm not surprised by Lacrosse based on the one's I knew in college.

2012-01-28 10:18:25 PM
the rich kids take the most drugs, you don't say?

Guessed lacrosse based on several who played on our HS team, lol. Winner winner chicken dinner.

I played club lacrosse. We would show up hung over from being out drinking with the other team the night before, and would have a cooler full of beer on the sideline at the game.

/college was fun

Canadas two official sports lol, Lacrosse our summer sport, Hockey our winter
go Canada!

Ultimate Frisbee?
...checks article.
Aww man, you're harshing my mellow, Lacrosse?

2012-01-28 10:53:41 PM
I am sure some of you will try to use drugs as an excuse for why the MURRAY STATE RACERS remain UNDEFEATED, but you'd be wrong!! Hell, they even play their home games in a DRY COUNTY!!

2012-01-28 10:58:12 PM
Hey! I got it right the first time.

2012-01-28 11:04:57 PM
No OBVIOUS tag? I went to many lacrosse parties at Maryland, those guys were farking maniacs. The coaches put a reminder on the team white board when the drug testing for the NCAA tourney was so they had enough time to clear their systems.

2012-01-28 11:08:24 PM
Lacrosse was my first guess as well, but, really, it's a survey of college students. C'mon, who *isn't* on drugs?

Of course those people use drugs. I could've told you that. Thugs, the lot of them.

2012-01-28 11:50:09 PM
I am amazed that my sport (D3 swimming) didn't even appear anywhere in the article. Not that many swimmers do the hard stuff, but I have NEVER met a swimmer that didn't drink.

If you factor out rich kids snorting coke off of strippers' asses, is lacrosse still number one?

You'd just have some sticks and rubber balls then.

ontariolightning: Canadas two official sports lol, Lacrosse our summer sport, Hockey our winter

Yeah, but it's REAL lacrosse, not that pussy field shiat.

2012-01-29 01:13:28 AM
I would have guessed hockey players. Hockey players are also some of the best athletes which makes it even more amazing how crazy they can party. lax reminds me of not really athletic kids who want to tell everyone they're college athletes.

I was gonna say its the one that people mock the most, they have to act cool like they are cool because no one goes to see men with netsticks run around.

This would have been my guess too. I was astounded that the dudes who woke up super early every morning to go row (they were up before the ROTC kids, for christs sake) were also the absolute biggest party animals.

2012-01-29 04:17:53 AM
Mainly rich, no chance of turning pro to screw up, no meaningful scholarship money, probably at college on academic merit so less worried about getting kicked off team...

I'd guess lacrosse.

i dunno, i only played high school but i was never in such good shape as i was in lacrosse season. perhaps it was just our school---perennial state champs in everything, we didn't seem to have a good grasp on what's really important in life. but we would start practicing on frozen ground as soon as early february, from fifteen minutes after school until dark... and continue with that, six days a week practicing, three until as late as seven until june. small wonder i peaced it out senior year...

2012-01-29 06:06:12 AM
Based on personal experience, I guessed swimming. I didn't know many lax players.

Same for cross country in my experience. It's more like a drinking team with a running problem. There's nothing like a 12 miler at 5:30 am when you're either hungover or still drunk.

Not that I ever did that in college...underage drinking is illegal, people!

2012-01-29 09:56:05 AM
I guessed crew going in because of the strenuousness of the sport.
I wonder if there's a Bias with basketball players and low cocaine use.
Golfers smoke the most. No shiat. Golf is actually bad for an athlete. It's not quite physical activity, and not rest, either.

2012-01-29 12:50:01 PM
When I was in high school in Maryland, I wrote an article in the school paper decrying the success of lacrosse in the state and questioned the long-term plans of anyone playing the sport after college, as it wasn't a viable career path.

Now that I think about it, Josh Sims was one of our star players at the time, so I'm guessing joke's on me.

2012-01-29 12:59:54 PM
I don't put much credence in any study which gets its data from self-reporting, anonymous or otherwise. Everybody lies and they do so from varying motivations.

2012-01-29 01:21:24 PM
The survey should be titled "Lacrosse and ice hockey players are the most honest survey answerers."
