Lucifer is not native to Florida. He lived in the wildlife park before it became a state park. For a while, they were trying to ship him out because they wanted the park to have only native Floridian animals. The locals threw a fit, and eventually I believe the Governor at the time ended up signing a decree naming Lucifer an honorary native of Florida so that he could stay.

His name, by the way, is LUCIFER, not Lu. Has political correctness reached the point that we are afraid of offending the devil?

Hey, an article from my hometown paper, and it's not Florida-tag-worthy stupid. Lucifer's been out at the Springs since just shy of forever, and I don't think one word of the spiel has changed since the first time I went to visit him at age 6 or so. Happy birthday Lu!

I've watched Lu eat and swim a few times down in Homosassa Springs when visiting family.
