Why legalize free plants when we can give money to big pharma? It would probably be easier to find between corporate lobbiests and their paid-for congress critters.

Cannabis mouth sprays have been around for a long time.

It's a alcohol and herb based tincture that is atomized onto your tongue for fast absorption. The best uses I have seen are for people suffering migraines. Very fast abortion this way. I think the one I saw used was high in CBDs, the pain killing component of herb. This doesn't get you high apparently.

You have no idea, easily 680 lbs. Just this morning I spent a full hour looking for my penis just so I could take a piss.

Rough times indeed.

There's nothing like a wee spritz of bongwater in the back of your throat to make you feel much better.

Gordon Bennett: There's nothing like a wee spritz of bongwater in the back of your throat to make you feel much better.

LOL...that's exactly what I was thinking. ;^)

But seriously, DEA are going to have to do some really fancy dancing to maintain pot as a Schedule 1 drug while concurrently letting Big Pharma market it to the public. It'll be interesting to see how they manage that.

I think they'll go with their standard "because fark you, that's why" approach.

Resulting in which metabolites? This could cause those to become schedule 2 if approved.

Marinol is now Schedule III. Would there be a reason why any of the other cannabinoids would be lower?

What's interesting about Sativex is that it's an extract from real marijuana. It's not a synthetic version of one of the chemicals in marijuana, such as Marinol. If the FDA approves Sativex I wonder how the DEA is going to resolve the contradiction that marijuana is currently a Schedule I drug that has "no currently accepted medical use in treatment".

Or in this day and age are they even going to bother?

beer4breakfast: Or in this day and age are they even going to bother?

Probably not. The best we can hope for is a sleeper president who springs it via executive order during a second term. I'm not suggesting that Obama would do that. I think we're looking at 10-20 more years of prohibition before politics catches up to reality.

/Maybe I'll be able to light up a doob in retirement, who knows

Yes...that's what I was alluding to above. Marinol, etc., are single-canabanoid synthetics, whereas Sativex is a (presumed multi-canabanoid) natural concentrate.

Big difference. HUGE.

Make pot legal and cut out the middleman. Cut crime, cut costs and collect tax revenue all in one.

I Try not to bother myself in how the feds classify herbal tinctures.

I know they help my girlfriends crippling migraines, and she insists it's the CBDs.

Further more, they make weed breath strips in various flavors!

Legal dispensaries buy for about half the black market rate. Not great, but Humbolt Co. growers will get over it. Mexibrick commercial grows aren't competing with legal weed and will continue to ship $200 lbs.

It's already legal in lots of places, so we know what the effect will be on trafficking: moderate. Dispensary prices are exactly the same as the black market for name brand. Pot is so easy to get, it may as well be legal everywhere. There will be very few surprises, except perhaps how little Enforcement is carried out against non-pot illegal drugs.

Agreed. Although with the current climate of high unemployment, I would not be surprised to hear some people say, "Why do you support a policy that kills jobs?!"

Makes sense that if it's going to induce abortions that it would at least be a pain-killer, too. ;)

Done in one. Marijuana's bad if you grow it, but just peachy when my big campaign contributor patents it, grows it, turns it into a spray and sells it back to you at huge markups.

/ Government policy on pot pisses me off, and I don't even smoke weed.

Not disagreeing, but this is a positive thing. It continues moving the discussion in a positive direction. If this is approved it can be a game changer on how cannabis is regulated.

Or you could just decarb a bag of weed, and let it hang out overnight in a slow cooker with a bunch of glycerin...

I really like green dragon. Easy to make -- the taste is foul though.

Weed has to herby and oily a flavour --- i dont have a clue what would mask it or accent it well.

A shot of green dragon in cola with a chaser of different pop works to get it down... but that is some hard stuff to drink straight.

I don't buy this argument.

Tobacco is a free plant. Philip morris should be pushing to legalize marijuana so they could sell it, but they're not. I don't think it's about big pharma.

I think maybe it's that marijuana is a gateway crime... As long as marijuana is illegal, the cops can go after people for it and use it as an in to catch criminals doing other nasty things. For example, shake down the toker on the street corner so they can get his dealer that may also be a murderer. That kind of thing. It's still wrong, but it makes more sense than the money angle.

Actually its a way to control the quality of the product and tthe dose you're getting, and ensure that there is research proving the product is safe and effective.

Arguably a medical marijuana dispensary could come close to getting you the right amounts of cannabinoids, but it still wouldnt be the same,- thats why ppl complain about generics sometimes.

Had someone sell me some pot once and we got into a conversation about legalization. She was absolutely against it saying there would be riots and murders in the street if it happened. No she just meant her profits that enabled her to buy meth would be murdered.

/Don't hang out with the crazy no matter how good of a deal you get.

It's amazing how big of a swing the city takes as you drive through. It's like there are streets that St. Louis just forgot about.

You can also vaporize the plant, although the equipment is a little more expensive.
