PanicMan: As Rush Limbaugh pointed out, Newt was among a handful of Republican Congressman who would regularly take to the House floor to defend Reagan at a time when conservatives didn't have Fox News or talk radio or conservative blogs to give any balance to the liberal mainstream media.

Oh I loooooooooove this line. By equating FOX News to talk radio and conservative blogs she is essentially admitting they are a derp distribution enterprise rather than a legitimate news network.

I hope Palin's cri de coeur to her followers enables Newt to squeak out a Florida victory. I want Mittens to sweat. I want the derp to keep flowing. I want this bullshiat up in front of the country for as long as possible so all those "independents" can see exactly the ricockulous platform the Republicans are flogging this year. I want a maximum number of moderate GOPers to hold their noses and vote for the Republican-Lite in the White House rather than let the inmates run the asylum, and I want the culture warriors to stay at home on election night posting screeds to Free Republic about how they can hear Soros' brainwash Frankenstein computer god radio slavery coming through their fillings.

He helped poor people and so is the natural enemy of the GOP. Newt brought him up a little while ago because Alinsky and Obama were both community organizers in Chicago. Now everybody on the right just knows that Alinsky was a dangerous radical whose ideas are the basis of Fartbongoing.

theorellior: vote for the Republican-Lite in the White House

I mean I agree with you but you gotta admit, it's pretty funny to call Obama a Republican-Lite. First because he's a Democrat. Second because he's significantly to the left of the current derptard Republican base. And third because if you were to time travel to 10 years ago and list off everything Obama actually did, people would have praised him as the greatest Republican president ever.

So depending on your context, he's either the most socialist communist maoist usurper to ever hold office, or he's the greatest Republican to ever hold office.

Which is yet another of the right's impressive feats of mental gymnastics...

"(Alinsky's) success has been praised by Democrats and Republicans alike. He was grudgingly admired by conservative hero William F. Buckley Jr., who called him "very close to being an organizational genius." Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, a Republican, gives copies of Mr. Alinsky's book "Rules for Radicals" to tea-party leaders." Link (new window)

stoli n coke: SuburbanCowboy: I stopped reading at "grassroots Tea Party movement "

Come on. The Tea Party is grassroots. Sure, they happened to become concerned about the economy around January of 2009. And sure, they were backed by 2 Republican billionaires and a former Republican congressman turned lobbyist and a cable network that regularly espouses Republican talking points, but those are all coincidences. You'll never meet a more independent group of free-thinkers than the Tea Party. They'll tell you so themselves.

Well, as you know, to the rest of the world, Obama is Rebuplican light. calling him a leftist is absurd and calling him a Marxist is sign of mental deficiency. He is about as left wing as our PM Harper.

Mouldy Squid: calling him a leftist is absurd and calling him a Marxist is sign of mental deficiency.

The GOP doesn't know what words mean, and they don't care. They use "leftist", "Marxist", "socialist", and "fascist" interchangeably, often within the same sentence. As far as they are concerned, these are just different ways of saying "bad guy". Hence why GOPers rail against "activist judges" and then shop around for a judge to let them on the ballot after they fail to collect enough signatures.

If they stub their toe on the dresser in the middle of the night, it's because the dresser is socialist.

LouDobbsAwaaaay: The GOP doesn't know what words mean, and they don't care. They use "leftist", "Marxist", "socialist", and "fascist" interchangeably, often within the same sentence.

I had this dream the other night that I ran for Mayor and after elected was a complete right wing nutjob. I then did the same as Senator and ultimately ended up as a famous pundit for Fox News. I ran for POTUS as the Tea Party hero, here to save the country from socialism. Once elected in my first televised speech I railed hard on issues just tossing around the buzzwords socialism, communism, marxism, maoism, big government yadda yadda. The crowd of rich old white people got all riled up cheering me on. Then I delivered my platform - the complete destruction of socialism. I was sick and tired of socialism propping up lazy people. We all knew of the lazy poor people but I was talking about a different group of lazy slackers who suckle off the government teet because they have no job - old people. I therefore was going to get rid of Medicare and Social Security entirely and would veto everything on my desk until they were destroyed.

The fallout was enormous, people saw the Republican party for what it actually was and for decades after my only term as POTUS, Democrats controlled the three branches of government. It wasn't until I was on my death bed that I released my book "LOL, I troll U GOP" where I explained that I wanted to push a liberal agenda and realized I could make a significantly higher impact on politics as a troll than as an honest candidate.

I kinda wanna do it too.

Duke Phillips' Singing Bears: Who the fark is Alinsky? I feel like I need a t-shirt that asks this question.

Christian Science Monitor has a good article online today - Who is Saul Alinsky, and why is Newt Gingrich so obsessed with him? (new window)

Interestingly, it isn't Obama who shows signs of having been influenced by Alinsky: "FreedomWorks, the tea party group headed by former Republican House Leader Dick Armey, gives copies of 'Rules for Radicals' to its leaders. 'His tactics when it comes to grass-roots organizing are incredibly effective,' FreedomWorks spokesman Adam Brandon told the Wall Street Journal. Tea Partyers aggressively confronting lawmakers at town hall meetings is straight from Alinsky's playbook.

"Conservative icon William F. Buckley Jr. called the Chicago radical 'very close to being an organizational genius.'

"As a former history professor, Gingrich not only understands Alinsky's motif, he's made it a key part of his campaign."

The funny thing that obviously went over poor Sarah's head, is that the people behind the scenes of the Tea Party had co-opted Alinsky's tactics from the get-go, and its followers are too dumb and brainwashed to realize it. Kind of like how they think that Newt isn't actually an "establishment" guy.

That being said, this is yet another crack in the facade of the GOP, and this shiat's gonna get real ugly before it's over.
