"It speaks to his ambitions," he said. "He is the most ambitious person I ever met. He would probably like to be emperor of the planet if there was such a position."

and...

"It would be the worst thing politically to ever happen to our nation. He's not worthy of the position," he said.

and...

Jones thinks this is partly because Gingrich is not "especially bright," and partly because he's "the most overrated public figure I've ever known."

We know that Newt cannot be destroyed by convention weapons as Cooter mentions however that leaves the question of what sort of mystical relics need to be acquired to accomplish this. Do I need to consult the trinity of ashes or the hosts of the hoary hoggoth to find an answer?

Whereas Newt Gingrich loves cooter so much he's been married 3 times and has had numerous affairs. It's a real love-hate relationship.

Newt's going to win the Florida primary. He's not going to win the nomination. But the more damage he can to do Romney, the better.

As awful as Gingrich is, I believe Boehner is doing more damage. Newt is not going to become president, he's too toxic. However, Boehner is in power and his anti anything-Obama-related rhetoric has the Republican party looking like a bunch of petulant children who are more focused on making the current president look bad than actually passing legislation. Newt is a former speaker, Boehner is current. Media should be focusing on him.

Most likely not, unless Rubio and/or Bush endorse him before the day of the primary.

Oops, except for winning Florida. Unfortunately Romney will win Fla.

Sort of related, but I just watched "Smokey and the Bandit" for the first time in a long time, just to see if it was ok for my 7 year old to watch.

FTA: Those elders include Bob Dole, whom Jones ran into in the green room of Hardball a while back. "If you'd beaten that SOB" in 1994, Jones said Dole told him, "I might have been president."

Gingrich did one good thing in his life then, if only by accident.

You need to assemble all nine pieces of the triforce, and get the silver arrow. It'd definitely help to have the red ring, the wand AND the spellbook, and the magical boomerang is pretty much a given. Make sure you have plenty of hearts, and the red potion, not the blue. Oh and look for the old man who can increase your bomb capacity to 12. That's a huge asset.

rynthetyn: How is it that I didn't know he's the guy who brought the ethics charges against Newt?

Because 80,000 other people would have if he didn't? The bringer is a minor story when Newt's dirt is the big story.

As awful as Gingrich is...that may be a worse crime against humanity.

Also, i don't know if Gingrich slept with Cooter's wife, but Cooter REALLY hates Gingrich. Cooter has been railing against Gingrich for years, even before this.

I have loathed Newt since 1993. I believe that gives me entre into a club of some sort. I was young and unspoiled when I became aware of this horrible, dreadful excuse for a human. He was responsible for my realizing that craven lust for power could make a person sell one's soul.

He's been awful for a long time - trust me.

He is the epitome of a loathsome evil sack of shiat.

At least we didn't get that Bob Dole presidency, though.

I am from Kansas and never was a Dole fan, but honestly, I think his integrity is way above any of these ass clowns that are running today and if he hadn't been at least open to compromise, he never would have gotten anything done, much like the Boener congress.

Agreed, I didn't vote for him but he is light-years better than any other Republican candidate in the last 30 years.

/I didn't vote for Clinton either.

2012-01-28 03:04:41 AM
For the last 3 years we've heard nothing from every Republican but that Obama is the greatest threat this country has ever known. how bad must Gingrich be that so many of those same Republicans think he's worse than Obama?

2012-01-28 03:10:51 AM
I wonder if these candidates are all part of a conspiracy to make Nixon and Reagan look like intelligent people because the facade about who they really were is starting to fall.

2012-01-28 03:14:14 AM
Bob Dole is definitely in a class way above today's GOP. He had a good sense of humor, and didn't mind poking fun at himself as well.

I don't think he would have been as effective of a president as Clinton, though I would have traded Bush Jr. for him in a second!

cc_rider: Wow. That's hilariously awful.

Obama could probably run that "Newt? Not!" rap every 5 minutes for 6 months and still defeat Newt in a general election.

But yeah, Ben Jones campaign v. Newt involved showing up to out of state Newt events with bloodhounds. But the district went 55%-30% for Bush over Clinton and 61%-33% for Dole over Clinton.. so it's not like there was a lot Ben Jones could do.

And the worst campaign ad ever is still this (new window)

2012-01-28 03:26:45 AM
Another anti-Newt ad that was a bit... odd

strange how those ad wizards didn't get hired by the Romney campaign

Well, friends and neighbors, looks like ol' Cooter's got his eye on that Gingrich boy, and he don't like what he sees one bit. 'Course, we all know that Boss Newt's lower than a snake's belly in a sand pit and crooked as a corkscrew, but it don't take much brains to get elected in Georgia...all it takes is plenty of cold, hard cash.

/What, forty posts until this?
//Personally, I've always liked Ben Jones.
///Have to admit, the Cooter for Congress signs I saw were a little disconcerting...
