...a virus called "Lambda" evolved to find a new way to attack host cells, a change accomplished in just four mutation steps.

After just 3 mutations:

Very funny, subby. Everyone knows the so called "theory" of evolution is simply a hoax perpetrated by the powerful texbook and fossil industries in a constant attempt to corrupt young minds and perpetuate the myth that viruses are descended from monkeys.

Good thing the government will never get involved in this.

This applied to the Republican presidential hopefuls a year ago....Not so much now.

tee hee

everyone KNOWS that evolution is a fact.
our understanding of evolution is incomplete.

Suck it, you creationist/intelligent design morans.

Still, I can hear them . . . "Ha! That proves nothing! Why do you hate Jebus? Go be atheist somewhere else."

Meh. "Our understanding of evolution is incomplete" the same way as "our understanding of geology is incomplete"... yet nobody challenges that rivers make canyons.

Oh wait... *facepalm*

Was looking for the Windows reference, but apparently this is the other kind of virus.

U.S. researchers say they have observed how a new virus evolves and how diseases can quickly gain dangerous mutations.

Scientists at the Umbrella Corporation showed for the first time how a virus called "T" evolved to find a new way to attack host cells, a change accomplished in just four mutation steps.

While Lambda isn't dangerous to humans yet, the research demonstrated how viruses evolve complex and potentially deadly new traits, researcher Justin Meyer said in an MSU release Thursday.

Fossil fueled?

I like it!

namatad: our understanding of evolution is incomplete.

It works fine for pretty much anything but humans. We evolved ridiculously fast, with many steps unaccounted for.

/I'm not saying it's aliens

I appreciate you linking that site...after reading parts out loud to my fiance it started a great conversation about the age of the Grand Canyon, the Rockies, the Black Hills, the Ozarks, the Appalachian mountains, etc. and how they were all formed...we have enjoyed dusting off what is left in the memory banks from various college courses.

Of course it's hard not to feel rather intelligent after reading that page...yowza.

Luckily for us, evolution doesn't exist.

but it's aliens ...

and yes, no, maybe
the AAT does a pretty good job of covering where and when the evolving took place. ESP if you put the LCA in AFAR triangle, flood the area so they were stuck on an island and they were completely separate from the rest of the LCA population.

My understanding was that viruses tend to mutate away from deadly killers, to becoming less lethal. If you kill your host, you tend to die, but if you merely make him/her sick, you obtain the opportunity to branch out. That's why there are no huge Ebola outbreaks. If you get it, you die and it stops there. Stupid Ebola.

I'm fairly certain evolution isn't real. My mom taught me that everything ever was on Noah's ark.

Great, they took our chromosomes, too.

Scientists need to stop farking around with something that could wipe out most everybody.
