So, we're going to melt the teacher down and use her to heat the school for 27 secs, right?

Poor little mite. :-(

The photo captions are ..... weird.
Also - why wasn't she wearing diapers?

You've named your twins Liberty and Destiny, you set them up for humiliation.

Children are cruel that way.

That may be true, but what is the excuse for the teacher?

Strange that Liberty was the one struck with cancer, while Destiny was not. I thought twins did everything together!

Who should clean it up? It's not the teacher' s job.

What 4 year old goes to school already? She must be a super genius therefore she should have known better.

EvilEgg: Who should clean it up? It's not the teacher' s job.

I'd argue that it is. At 4 yearsold, the kids aren't just being taught, they're being watched after and taken care of. That teacher is also functioning as a babysitter.

If this was a know condition, why wasn't she wearing diapers?

WHY IS IT GEY TO HATE THE TEACHER? I THINK THE TEACHER SHOULD BE COMMENDED. FOR NOT TREATING THE KID ANY DIFFERENT!

Why is an incontinent child not wearing diapers or pullups?

Clearly, it's the four-year-old's responsibility. Anyone who works with special needs children knows this.

Wait, this girl chooses cancer and the rest of us have to support the little snowflake?

Welcome to Obama's AmeriKKKa.

Say goodbye to FREEDOM!1!!

EvilEgg: Who should clean it up? It's not the teacher' s job.

Schools have janitors.

And if this school doesn't, then it is the adult's responsibility.

Kids puke, pee, and poo. If you do not have a janitor to clean that stuff up, then you better hire one or it is the teacher's job to do it.

2012-01-27 10:47:40 PM
My guess it it's some kind of Early Intervention class she's in because she's "special needs". We have those out here in California as well.

The cleaning up the pee isn't as big a deal as the sitting facing the wall for 10 minutes. Four years old should learn that accidents happen and when they do you clean them up. Punishing her isn't going to help.

2012-01-27 10:48:01 PM
HOLY shiat. A four year old pissed herself and a teacher was a dick. This a first in the history of four year olds OR dicks. Stop the presses.

I don't give a shiat about the story, the kid or the teacher.

Jesus farking Christ, that mother is hang-dog ugly. Does it get really cold at night in Britain? Like cold enough to freeze alcohol?

Meh. I see no issue with having the kid clean it up if she's able to (which it seems she was). Punishing her for it afterwards seems entirely pointless though, even if it hadn't been related to a disability. I mean who the hell pisses themselves on purpose under normal conditions... having done it should be enough discouragement from doing it again.

2012-01-27 10:54:38 PM
Man; forced to rummage in her own filth and then disciplined and humiliated.

Some people pay good money for that kind of action.

2012-01-27 10:55:30 PM
The teacher did something uncool. School reprimanded her for it and apologized to the parents.

What more is it they want? Geeze.

FTFA: And they were outraged further after complaining to Church Gresley Infant and Nursery School in Swadlincote, Derbys, just to get a letter saying the incident had been "fully investigated" and "dealt with".

EvilEgg: Who should clean it up? It's not the teacher' s job.

You would think that a school named "Church Gresley Infant and Nursery School" would have folks on staff / on call who would be fully prepared to deal with children's "accidents" with no fuss at all.

Too bad that there aren't any stories or songs about children who suffer at the cruelty of their English school masters...

she's 4. You don't ask a 4 year old to clean piss up off the floor if you're actually interested in having the piss cleaned off the floor. It was done to shame her into not doing it again. This teacher is a barbarian and we shoulda let England fall to the Nazis.

4-year-olds, if I remember from my experiences, are not really the sort of people who can be responsible for bowel movements. They can prevent them, but don't yell at them (or force them to clean it up) at that age.

Especially if they look like 'tards, like the poor girl in TFA.

2012-01-27 10:57:26 PM
More importantly, why did TFA say "while" instead of "whilst"???

I work in a school where this happens all the time, the custodian cleans it up, standard protocol.

I was in a class once where a girl suddenly got the hiccups, and the sub teacher accused her of doing it on purpose to get attention. That pissed me off, but nothing I could do about it at that age.

1. The child is incontinent, but is she able to clean up her mess like any other child? If yes, then I don't see the problem, provided the other students are made to do the same when they have accidents. If no, then yes the teacher made an unfortunate error in judgment and should be reprimanded appropriately. Just because child is sickly doesn't necessarily merit extra punishment.

2. The mum can be as outraged as she wants, but whatever discipline is meted out to teachers in cases like this is a personnel issue, and they are usually confidential. I don't think the letter that she received from the school district was insensitive or dismissive of her concerns. It sounds to me like mum wants the teacher publicly flogged. I can sympathize, but just a tiny amount.

3. As other posters upthread have already mentioned, does this child not wear protective undergarments? If mum knows that her child is incontinent due to her medical condition, why is she not taking preemptive care to keep her tidy, or at least hygienic?

I don't doubt that's why it happened in this case, but I'm pretty sure with direction a 4 year old could (and supposedly did) operate a mop and bucket. I wouldn't trust them to do it by themselves without causing a catastrophic flood or getting bored and wandering off, but that doesn't seem to have been the case anyway.

At any rate, "make mess --> clean mess" was part of my childhood from a young age, and so far as it's nothing dangerous it seems like a logical thing to be doing.

Don't call the teacher a "dick", that's an insult to all of the wonderful dicks (as in the male appendages and not the metaphorical asswipes) of the world.

Any human with a bit of human compassion would have started the clean up while showing the 4 year how to and then having the child assist. And it would have ended with that: a matter of fact cleaning, then onto regular class activity. Making a big deal of it only exacerbates the embarrasment of the 4 year old.

Teacher was an asswipe.

EvilEgg: Who should clean it up? It's not the teacher' s job.

At age 4, it is the teacher's job, or some other adults job. It isn't as if it were done on purpose. Good lord, it is a bit of child's urine, not the end of the damn world.

/been there, done that.
//not the biggest fan of working with children that young, but did once when I needed the money and yes, cleaning up after accidents was occasionally involved.

definitely a good lesson but I don't think THIS sort of mess is the one you should be using as a teaching tool. 4 years old is old enough to be embarrassed for wetting yourself. To shame her to clean it up while still wet is completely unnecessary.
