Does he know he can't use "hand it to AP" in Cleveland?

1derful: I keep forgetting the Browns exist.

With moves like this, they certainly don't want to be relevant any time soon.

Aaaannnddd... I pity the poor sap at QB in Cinci whom Brad Childress will horribly fark over by using him in exactly the worst way possible ("Oh, so you are good at finding open receivers deep down the sidelines... how about we run a passing offense based on crossing routes over the middle, 5 yds deep... after I gut your offensive line and convince the GM to bring in ham-handed WR's and TE's, and RB's that don't know what a screen pass is!")

They do. They're called the Baltimore Ravens.

Thank you... considering the Vikings haven't been relevant since Childress was your coach.

to be fair, Chilly wasn't a bad OC in Philly.

Ok, what we have here is Holmgren reassembling the old gang from various points in Packer history.

Has this ever been successful in the past?

Cleveland Browns.
We might only have four letters in our State, but we have more than one city.

Well, if movies taught me anything, this is a formula for success if you're trying to pull off an elaborate heist.

I always thought that guy looked more like a college economics professor than an NFL coach.

Something to not forget. He could be one of those Wade Phillips types who can really turn around 1 side of the ball but you just don't want as your main decision maker. The draft should be rather interesting for them.

It worked for one year in Kansas City. Then it came crashing down.

Poor bastards in Cleveland. Chilly is a retard. The Vikes didn't go to to the NFC championship because of Chilly. They went in spite of Chilly. Before they got Favre to sign, his plan was to have Sage Rosenfels compete for the starting qb job. SAGE ROSENFELS!!!!

/No I'm not made at all, why do you ask?

Andy Reid called the plays when Childress was the OC in Philly, so it's tough to say how good of an OC he was during that time.

Listen. This is the best previously experienced coach the Browns could ever hope to get. Who, with any other options, would coach for this organization? The latest story in the Browns continued drama is, Tony Grossi, a long time Browns beat reporter for the only paper in town, the Plain Dealer, was just fired for accidentally publicly tweeting that the owner, Randy Lerner, is pathetic and irrelevant. Rumor is Lerner had him fired for it.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported this with smiley faces and rainbows.

natural316: Does he know he can't use "hand it to AP" in Cleveland?

Well, if Holmgren et al are smart, he'll be able to "hand it to TR" or "hand it to LMJ". But if they're stupid, he'll only be able to "create plays where a Heisman winner continually runs for his life with no one to hand it to or throw to".

Good thing he's not in charge of personnel hires, then.

Yeah that's great, except Lerner doesn't own the paper. More importantly, Grossi had been doing that job for much too long. He had his own agendas and grudges and wrote more about how he would run the team than about how it was being run. Kind of like reading one of Elvis Mitchell's movie reviews. Interesting at times, but not what he was hired for nor what the readers wanted. Good riddance to Grossi, bitter burned out hack.

Glad to see at least a couple Farkers understand the difference between being an OC and a Head Coach.

I hope shurmur will keep the play calling duties -and- chilly will simply be doing the coordinating

Eh its worse than that. He later decided that T-Jax was his guy, and when it was obvious to everyone (and I do mean everyone) that Sage would be a better backup for Favre than T-Jax, Chilly traded Sage for a bag of donuts. And he justified it by converted a player drafted as a WR to be the #3 QB (Joe Webb) ruining his development at a position he might have been successful at.

...er, um, did you see some of the plays Shurmur called?

Doesn't matter how bad you think Childress is, he's an upgrade over Shurmur calling plays right now.
