Clue #5 is wrong.

Straight Outta Compton came out in August of 1988, with "[Fark] the Police" featuring Cube's lines, "[Farkin'] with me 'cause I'm a teenager/with a little bit of gold and a pager", so we know he had a pager long before 1990.

Also, "It Was a Good Day" came out on The Predator in November 1992.

Pagers came out in the early 50s, but where basically the realm of doctors.

At some point between it being a tool doctors used, to it becoming mainstream for everyone, gangster type folks would have jumped in on it because they had a use case for it, and the ability to pay for it.

/1958 is when the FCC approved pagers for public use.

/Motorola had the first commercial pager in 1974.

/There were over 3 million pagers in use by 1980

/by 1990, there were 20 million pagers in use

/In 1999, I started working in the cellular industry, which is why I can regurgitate useless facts like this.

Fark Me To Tears: Yeah... 'cause everything was just roses prior to that, huh?

This.

At the risk of threadjacking, it is pretty startling how quickly people seem to have forgotten. Just because the economy was relatively good for most of his presidency, he must've been a great guy for the job, right? And yet, I still remember Obama, on the campaign trail in 2007/8, remarking how we were going to have a recession in the next few years. One that started, mind you, while Bush was still in office.

Yup. Pagers were huge in the mid to late 80's. They started to die in the 90's, not catch on. As proof, I'll cite the 1989 Sir Mix-A-Lot song, Beepers.

Yes! Obama is a living wonder. He has rightfully earned his Nobel Peace Prize then killed Bin Laden as he steered us away from an imminent depression. Sooo... can we move on now?

As already mentioned, clue #5 is poorly supported. Even if "pagers weren't available until the '90s" were true, it's unlikely that the author's selected threshold date -- January 1, 1990 -- would be accurate.

/"Do you know the importance of a Skypager?"

*checks xaveth's profile - reads about political views and thoughts and global warming*

Wow, are there really people out there who believe politicians will follow through on every single promise they make while running for office? I always figured people that naive were just too young to vote. "We got 'More the same' if not worse."
