Mother Teresa, the only religious icon I can find no fault with. Well except she was kinda lousy in bed, but all in all she was a good woman.

2003-10-19 11:50:01 AM
Sorry I tired her out for you reallystupid.

2003-10-19 12:18:25 PM
I'll bet her son's just beaming.

...What?

The process of canonization -- the naming of a saint -- has existed since the 10th century. But the current process is largely a result of changes to the Catholic canon laws made by John Paul II in 1983. The pontiff has canonized more saints in the past two decades than had been named in the previous 400 years.

behold the power of a senile cult leader

Wait what were the miracles she performed?

2003-10-19 04:36:25 PM
Guess she ain't no cherry huh?

2003-10-19 04:37:32 PM
Ooops, wrong thread.

The first miracle formally attributed to her concerned a young Indian woman, Monica Bersa, whose stomach cancer tumor shrank after she prayed to her in 1998, baffling doctors.
I am fine now. It is all due to the blessings of Mother Teresa, Bersa told Reuters last year in Danogram, some 220 miles north of Calcutta.
A commission of doctors examined the case and said they had no ready explanation in medical science for the cure.

Somehow I didn't know that Mother Teresa was Macedonian. Heck, she grew up in the same town as my grandmother. How did I miss this fact through eight years of Catholic school?

2003-10-19 05:25:21 PM
I bet her kids are really proud of her.

The Buddy Christ gives Mother Teresa a big thumbs up.

Her stomach cancer tumor was probably a weird fetus twin child mutant alien thing, and when she prayed, she actually gave her an enema, which caused the tumor, aka the Indian chick's fetus brother or sister, to come out. DUH!

Mother Teresa dies and goes to heaven... as she's being escorted around by St. Peter, she notices another angel who has a larger halo than hers. Mother Teresa asks "How can I, a person who dedicated her life to helping those less fortunate, have a halo smaller than that other angel?" St. Peter responded, "That's Princess Diana, and that's no halo... it's a steering wheel."

try the veal.

1. Sainthood.
2. ???
3. Profit.

2003-10-19 05:31:09 PM
bubbaprog, It's easy to miss things in Catholic school when the priest's in the room sizing the kiddies up.

2003-10-19 05:31:58 PM
Except the Pope is NOT declaring her a saint. It's only a beatification - she's now "blessed." She has to be dead for another 10 years before she can officially be canonized. I'm NOT Catholic, never was, and I know that - sheesh poster, rtfa.

2003-10-19 05:32:04 PM
I have never gotten the fascination with Mother Theresa. She helped people to die in clean beds. Why not help the poor to live better lives, anything other than just a dignified death.

2003-10-19 05:33:14 PM
So if performing a miracle is a necessary step, when will Joe Torre become a saint?

2003-10-19 05:33:26 PM
reallystupid, in the aftermath of the Pakistan/India war in the 70's Mother Teresa fought to prevent the abortions for the women who were raped by the pakistanis during the war. We are talking about around 400,000 women.
She didn't have much to say about the horrors they suffered, the only thing that bothered her was on how to prevent the abortions because God says so.

2003-10-19 05:33:39 PM
So what exaclty does she win?

2003-10-19 05:35:54 PM
Was she nominated for Saint Hipocrite? She preached about suffering and poverty being necessary while she herself had the best medical treatment available.

2003-10-19 05:37:00 PM
She never gave painkillers to her patients no matter what.

I'm not even Roman Catholic, but I think making any jokes about Mother Theresa is really a bad idea. Sure to bring you bad mojo, no question.

2003-10-19 05:38:04 PM
actually, she took the first step in becomming a saint... but lets not get into technicalities right?

2003-10-19 05:38:37 PM
People act like she's some kind of Mother Teresa.

2003-10-19 05:38:58 PM
I just got a letter in the mail telling me I've been canonized. Came as a big shock to me... what with not being catholic... and drawing a webcomic about tentacle monsters... and naked women... with penises.

Still, thanks Pope! The world needed a saint of Hentai.

2003-10-19 05:39:34 PM
Didnt she also prevent any type of vaccines or proven medical techniques be allowed in any of he hospitals.

There was a thread a while back about MT, and I learned much much more than we hear in the news.

She really wasn't that nice a person, but people wanted her to be so they created this image.

2003-10-19 05:39:41 PM
cclark, The Catholics brought it upon themselves for burying their heads in their gold for so long.

2003-10-19 05:40:38 PM
Valdemiro, to my knowledge she is only credited with one miracle. A women with some type of stomach disorder / tumor that miraculously disappeared a week after touching something that Mother Teresa had also touched. I believe to be Sainted, you need to perform three miracles, but the Pope has the right to change the rules of Sainthood.

Im fine with that. Let her be a Saint.

2003-10-19 05:40:39 PM
The Patron Saint of Needless Suffering, maybe?

2003-10-19 05:41:30 PM
ahhh... the catholic religion... responsible for the killing of more people than all of the wars combined in the history of the world. they make bin laden look like a saint.

catholic religion = commit a sin + 3 hail mary's + give $$$ to the church = all is forgiven

2003-10-19 05:41:45 PM
Here's Capitalism Magazine on that SELF-RIGHTEOUS biatch MOTHER TERESA. Beautification?! That harridan's carcass should have been left unburied for the crows to pick at. Whose suffering did she ever alleviate? What did she ever do to ease poverty? Absolutely NOTHING.

2003-10-19 05:42:39 PM
I miss the good old days when we could buy sainthood or just pay a fee to have the occasional murder/adultery/theft forgiven. Damn you Luther.

catholworship can be summed up in one word: FLAGELATION

Don't bother. God and all his precious little angels are nothing but stinking vulture bait.

flicks a stream of ichor from his blade...

2003-10-19 05:43:34 PM
Ok, but what about all the other people with deadly diseases who did pray to her and weren't cured? Not to knock her life's work of helping to deny poor people adequate birth control and secretely converting Hindus on their death beds to Catholicism, but if she has the power up in her sky castle, why doesn't she try to cure everyone who prays to her for intercession?

"Mother Teresa, the only religious icon I can find no fault with."

In december 1971 India and Pakistan bashed eachother silly in a 15 day war (in which 450,000 women were gang-raped, by the way). Now, after this little incident Teresa publicly encouraged all rape victims to keep their (unborn) babies.

Also, she happened to hang out with a charming fellow from Haiti called Jean-Claude "Baby Doc" Duvalier (from which she recived the Legion d'Honneur). She also paied tribute to the late Albanian top dog Enver Hoxha who happened to be one of the most zealous Stalinists to see the light of day after Stalin himself.

I remeber going to a catholic high school... one teacher based 20% of your mark depending on how much you gave to the "missons".

Needless to say I walked out of that class with a 60%

2003-10-19 05:46:21 PM
ProgrammerCat. Beautification was never bestowed upon Mother Theresa. She might have had a heart of gold but she was no looker.

2003-10-19 05:46:36 PM
Then there's the suffering she caused millions of women by blocking and preaching against the availability of birth control. Nice to know she contributed to the crushing over-population and poverty in India.

2003-10-19 05:49:14 PM

I am the LORD thy GOD.

My kingdom come, my will be done. Live, as in the studio

I think she stepped on a bug once too!

2003-10-19 05:50:15 PM
sainthood is rather dumb. how bout they prove to me that she made a miracle? this world has no more need for religion and saint, when there's the internet.

2003-10-19 05:50:29 PM
Aria

ProgrammerCat. Beautification was never bestowed upon Mother Theresa. She might have had a heart of gold but she was no looker.

As an ex-Catholic turned apostate, I may be wrong, but "beautification" is one step along the road to sainthood.

2003-10-19 05:51:44 PM
I am glad more people are aware of what a farking hypocrite Mother Teresa was. She has had one of the best PR campaigns of all time.

2003-10-19 05:52:14 PM
I think the world would be a better place if in the developed world they (the Churchs, Mosques, Temples and the like) Had to open up their books and show how the money brought in for chairity was being used (To the pennny).

Mother Teresa is the first prophet of the Church of I've Got Mine.
