Well-educated people talking about what uneducated people will no longer tolerate. Charming. When and if the global economic crisis comes, people will do exactly what they are doing now: believing everything the media tells them, blaming their problems on the boogeymen that are erected for their diversion, and praying to omnipotent skywizards to fix it all for them.

Absolutely! You've hit the nail on the head. That's precisely what happened in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and what is happening in Syria and Yemen, and is threatening to happen in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. And that's what happened in the US of A in the 1700's and in Russia and in India and... oh wait. No. That's precisely what didn't happen. Instead the vast majority rose up and overthrew their gov'ts and the companies that didn't work with the people lost everything they invested in those areas.

Sorry man, but as hip and edgy as you might think it is to be all negative about things getting better, history has shown that it's very possible for the will of the people to crush gov'ts and corporations out of hand if they want to. It's a thing called national sovereignty.

You know who else hated hipsters and loved national sovereignty?
