(Yahoo)   Grover Norquist says that if Obama lets the Bush tax cuts expire he should be impeached. Which would be nothing more than the ravings of a madman if half the Congress hadn't sworn an oath of fealty to him last year   (news.yahoo.com) divider line 180

farking tool.
Here's the thing- the US will NEVER pay down it's debt without some form of revenue increases. Go ahead, try and figure out how to do it without raising revenues.
And raising taxes are not an impeachable offense.

The income tax laws were designed to tax rich people.

If you don't like it, then leave the country, and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

They did draw and quarter Bush I. Pat Buchanan took one arm, Ross Perot the other, and Bill Clinton had the legs.

That's the excellent question nobody can really answer. The answer ISN'T money, He and his orgs have only given something like $4,000 to any individual congressional race. Yet he openly brags to the press about smacking around people like Tom Coburn and even John Boehner. It's extremely strange

Why am I not surprised that people are attacking Grover Norquist rather than his statement? Because they know he is right. In-fact, they should take it a step further: Your tax rate determines your control and influence in the Congress. So if the wealthiest citizens are going to continue paying 100% of their taxes to the government, then they should control 100% of the government. Is that not fair? Why should poor people have a say in policy that they cannot pay for? This is fiscal responsibility in its finest and most universal form, and I came up with the system in what, thirty seconds? I'd be the best president ever. Lol.

Are you reading a different Constitution than me?

And raising taxes now isn't going to pay for bigger government; it's going to pay for the trillions Bush put on the national credit card from 2001-09. No U.S. president before Bush ever fought a war without raising taxes to pay for it. He not only didn't raise them, he f*cking cut taxes. WTF kind of finance education is responsible for your ignorance?

MaudlinMutantMollusk: Who is Grover Norquist, and what evidence is he holding on Republicans that makes them his slaves?

From Wikipedia:

Grover Glenn Norquist (born October 19, 1956) is an American lobbyist, conservative activist,[4] and founder and president of Americans for Tax Reform. He is best known as the promoter of the "Taxpayer Protection Pledge" - signed by 95% of all Republican Congressmen and all but one of the 2012 Republican presidential candidates - whereby the signer promises to:

ONE, oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses; and

TWO, oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.

On my cranky days, I think every member of Congress who's taken the pledge should be expelled for having had "mental reservation" when taking their oath of Federal Office.

Eddie Adams from Torrance: Is there even one Republican that has the most basic understanding of how our government works and what Impeachment is?

Republicans know full well how government works, which is why they're so good at intentionally f*cking it up and then running on the "see? government can't do anything right! let's privatize everything!" platform.

2012-01-27 12:33:37 PM
Get rid of capitol gains and cut the tax rate for everyone.. voila, we have a surplus.

2012-01-27 12:33:40 PM
Seriously? Impeach him because he failed to sign legislation that would prevent a law from sunsetting? Last I checked, the only reasons you could impeach a President were because he committed treason, bribery, or some other crime. What crime are they willing to allege he committed by letting a law expire? Conspiring with Karl Marx?

2012-01-27 12:33:41 PM
Mr. Norquist does know that you can't impeach someone over letting tax cuts expire, right?

2012-01-27 12:34:07 PM
This would be the best time to equate Grover to all the lobbyist things that have been brewing in the last few years. I mean, he is the reason why America is falling apart, and why the rich are getting richer while the rest of us are living in a third-world hellhole.

I got news for ya, Subby:

It's still the ravings of a madman.

Now I'm not saying I want this to happen, but he's going to die someday, as we all are.

But wouldn't it be just dandy if we read in his obituary that he drowned in a bathtub?

what was Grover Norquist's stance on the GOP's opposition to the extension of a payroll tax cut?

here it is:

"For the president to run around and say not continuing a temporary tax cut is an increase is inaccurate"

Link (new window)

the Bush tax cuts were temporary, right? i mean, why else would there be an expiration date?

2012-01-27 12:35:42 PM
I'd like to see it happen.

Let's see how the public would react to an impeachment hearing based on a pledge made to a lobbyist.

Put the spotlight on these actions and watch as they dry up.

WizardofToast: Mr. Norquist does know that you can't impeach someone over letting tax cuts expire, right?

You liberals don't understand. Differences in political opinion, that supposedly 'differ' among 'reasonable' people, are perfectly legitimate grounds to impeach and incarcerate the so-called Presidon't.

2012-01-27 12:36:38 PM
DO IT. Impeach the president to protect rich people's tax bracket. I dare you.

2012-01-27 12:37:10 PM
But letting the payroll tax cut expire would be fine with him?

2012-01-27 12:37:14 PM
The ridiculous and vehement opposition to any and all tax policy changes along with the linking of those ideas to socialism, ruining America, and a dozen other idiotic comments is one of the single biggest things that will continue to haunt the American political system.

Fortunately, those comments can be used as a spotlight to single out the retards among us.

2012-01-27 12:38:03 PM
Wait I'm confused. Do we now need to unseat all the legislators that agreed when the Bush tax cuts were passed that they would be temporary and of course would have to expire? The nature of the legislation made made them temporary. They said publicly then that the tax cuts would have to expire, but now they've signed a pledge to never let them expire. Were they lying then, or are they lying now?
