By the way, this reminds me of an important question I've been meaning to ask Fark for a while now:
Who do you think would win in a fight -- Rick Moranis, or Martin Short?

Any thoughts???

Liberals are not complaining. We love it. I hope Obama debates Romney or Gingrich every bloody week. Shining a light on candidates platforms can only be bad for the GOP.

Oh geez, Martin Short. He's like some rabid wolverine stuck in a human body. Rick Moranis is more like a lemur whose tail is twice as long as it should be.

I would like to point out that Rick Moranis is Canadian.

You know, in case anyone didn't know that.

Because that means, you know, he can't vote in American elections.

FYI.

Well, Moranis would shrink Short, but then Short would get injected into Moranis (using Dennis Quaid's technology) and be able to defeat him internally, so I'd give it to Short.

So did his character nail Sigourney Weaver when they were both possessed? He was the key master afterall. They never brought that up in the sequel.

Rick only wrote this because he was bored. All the bowling alleys had been wrecked.

He could swing by Chicago, and play dead... hehe I might even do that...

Short is a berserker - he has the manic energy that Moranis is lacking.

Umm... OK.

Now I've read that and I will never get that time back.

And I like Rick Moranis just a little bit less than I did this morning.

Short. And he would do it *ahem* In short order.

Martin Short is funnier by a mile, and I suspect is a little mentally unbalanced.

If they ever remade Spaceballs using the cast of Firefly, Wash would make an excellent Dark Helmet.

...I don't know why that was in my brain.

First a Wall Street Journal op-ed piece and now this. Is Moranis starting the groundwork for a political career?

Of course he did. If the Key didn't get turned in the Gate, Gozer wouldn't have been able to show up.

Some are more than a bit disappointed there hasn't been a single debate on the Dem side. It would do a helluva lot of good to have Obama defend some of his policies and actions in a debate with a liberal.

Sadly that would involve the interests of the country being put ahead of the interests of the party, so it won't ever happen..

Two reasons I see for him to be grateful not to have done that:

A) Not from just a party standpoint, but a general confidence one, what would it say to challenge the sitting president? It would imply a whole lot of doubt to most of the public that doesn't look at the debate's topics, just that the party felt it was needed.

B) I think it would setup a situation where Obama would be forced to over-promise to the left like the GOP is doing to the right. He had to do some of this in 2008 (a lot of it was projected on to him without his direct action, though he didn't dispel those actions either), and it led to a lot of the current disappointment. He would either look like he is lying during the run because "he made promises he couldn't keep last time", or would set him up for lower approval ratings and therefore less political capital in the subsequent 4 years when he returned to running the place in a centrist/slightly to the right of center way.

Unlikely, since he's Canadian.
