Way to expense to duct tape them each day, bungee cords are reusable and can be adapted to varying toddler size.

Everyone who has had to put a child down for a nap has wanted to do this. They haven't done it, but I understand.

Christ, I'm tired of people using duct tape.

Zip-ties, on the other hand, now that shows creativity!

This just in: duck tape is not meant for ducts. It doesn't provide an airtight seal or stand up to prolong heat. Duct tape is made with aluminum foil. Duck tape was meant for water proofing. Don't make Mike Holmes come over there.

If it didn't harm the child but simply secured it in place, similar to a crib or baby walker, what's the crime?

My sister used to be the neighborhood babysitter when her children were young. She had a pair of toy handcuffs that didn't even need a key that she used on the older kids that continually misbehaved (beat up on the other kids) She would put on the cuffs and make them sit on the stairs for a time out. The parents were aware of the punishment. Time outs lasted about 5 minutes.

"Duck" tape is a brand, not an actual kind of tape. They make duct, packaging, and other types of tape. Kind of like how Kleenex is a brand, not a specific type of tissue.

Not to mention that bungee cords won't strip off the skin or leave a sticky residue if/when you forget about it for a few hours.

This same type of story has come up many times and always the person who duct tapes the child is seen as being a monster of some kind. Yet I've never seen a model of the circumstances and/or any proof that the simple act of "taping" a kid is any more harmful than strapping them in a chair.

Until I see simulations, risk assessments, and a complete 1 year study of taped vs. non-taped children and their post taping lives in comparison....I'm just going to have to say "Go for it."

No, they don't make duct tape (check their website, you won't find it). Duct tape is not a plastic tape it is a metal tape meant for airducts. Duck tape as a type of tape was invented for shipping during WWII to waterproof ammunitions. GI's came home and started the use it for everything movement. If you don't use the metal duct tape on your airducts you are wasting money. If you use duck tape on a gas dryer vent you will get carbon monoxide in your house.

I'm waiting for chloroform to be a standard option in baby wipes, ora-jel, or maybe a slow-release bladder inside the pacifier. Much cleaner than duct tape, and it doesn't require me to waste my delicious, yummy scotch on this little brat who's nowhere close to deserving it.

Duct tape isn't acceptable, because they can figure out how to pull it free in the duration of an ordinary nap time.

Either Superglue or industrial strength adhesive if you must get them to hold still; otherwise, I'd recommend a pit in the back yard.

Well that is sad. For your sake whoever built your house does know what duct tape really is. Check out Holmes on Homes. If you are willing to put a plastic tape on airducts than you are willing to use it to seal a hole in your car exhaust pipe. Stupidity is using the wrong stuff for the job and putting your family at risk. Duck tape must be playing to the "I think plastic tape will do anything group" and should be ashamed of themselves. Don't blame me.
