I wonder how Gringrich will use this to his favor?

Also, since this appears to violate the financial disclosure act is he still allowed to run for president?

Did Romney really not know that to run for president, you eventually have to turn over your financial data? Hasn't he had like 5 years to think about how he was going to do this?

The tax returns released by the Romney campaign this week showed that the Ann Romney Blind Trust had reported $1,783 in interest income from a bank account held at UBS in Switzerland in 2010. But interest from the Swiss bank account -- as well as holdings in other offshore investments in the Cayman Islands, Bermudas and Ireland that appear in the trust fund's tax returns -- were not disclosed in Romney's financial disclosure form filed with the Office of Government Ethics last August.

Really? You hid $1783 in interest income?

Entering $1783 into the Romney Income Calculator reveals:

In 2010, Mitt Romney made $1783 in 43 minutes and 15 seconds.

It would take you 12148 years 9 months 25 days 3 hours 4 minutes and 44 seconds to make what Mitt made in 2010.

That's, like, Martha Stewart level idiocy right there.

Irrelevant.
According to TFA what was not disclosed was the INTEREST, not the principle.
And it was not disclosed in a financial doc to the government, not the IRS.
Nice try.

He missed 0.0068% (approximately) of his income. History's greatest monster.

He needs to learn from Rangel how to not report huge chunks of income to the IRS and get away with it.

Liberals and Democrats in general have no problem with Mitt Romney's finances. Although Mitt Romney does because it is an issue in the Republican Primary race... and that's mainly because Newt Gingrich would rather discuss this than his own psychopathy failings.

Libtard here.

We're talking about $1500 in interest this guy forgot to include on a disclosure form. If I assume this was reported as properly as his accountant will allow to the IRS, I really don't care. It's not hard to forget about accounts you own; if you've switched banks and not closed the account it's probably still hanging out there in the ether. I probably have a bank account still open in Canada from 2006.

My grandmother was famous in the family for hiding accounts. Up until my grandfather's death in '03, they were still tracking down various safety deposit boxes, investment and checking accounts. Millionaires rarely have one of anything, especially accounts.

For a guy that spends a good bit of time complaining about how 47% of Americans don't pay income tax, he sure spends a lot of his time hiding his money from the public and finding every loophole available to avoid paying income taxes.

As someone that made 25k last year and paid 18-20%, I'm glad he's out there fighting against the 13% he paid on his millions.

This article is really confusing, not because I am drinking beer, but there is this guy named Mitt who's, like, rich, and then there's this other guy named Malt, who could also be rich, but it seems like he would be a little bit sweeter too, not just a sweeter, more Southern drawl, but more serious, and at the same time I am not drinking beer, but I can just imagine the sweet, sweet Malt filling my senses with his sweet Southern comfort, tempting me to take another sip of this beer that I haven't opened, or even purchased, mind you, and then I think they are the same thing, and that Mitt and Malt have melded and maybe, maybe, my life isn't so bad, and maybe I can wraps my Mitts around and imperial Malt and lighten up and have a beer for the first time, but I have to tell you, I now know what it truly feels like to sin.

Can we stop pretending that this is about Romney forgetting a spot on a form?

First, Romney almost certainly has an army of accountants that go over this. Spots don't get missed. Second, the amount of money in question is insignificant to Romney. This suggests that he likely wasn't trying to hide it because he actually cared about the money, but rather he was trying to hide the fact that he stores money in off-shore accounts, likely because it makes him look bad...like it is right now.

Yeah. Depression baby is pretty much spot on. My grandmother started buying life insurance polices a nickel at a time in 1930, when she was 13 years old. When she died last year, we cashed in 5 policies over 75 years old. With the ridiculously low interest rate, they weren't worth a ton, but it was pretty cool to see what you can do if you set your mind to it.

It's just not a Romney thread anymore until TOPC runs in, blustering and distracting. Actually he didn't appoint "tax cheats" one person reviewing their tax forms came to a different tax amount then their accountants did. That isn't a "Tax cheat" you idiot. She much more likely was the wrong one instead of all the other accountants being wrong.

Barricaded Gunman: the obvious fact that Romney's hiding accounts offshore and obfuscating as much as he possibly can

The interesting thing is that it is the appearance of impropriety that drives the current Romney narrative at as out of touch mega rich who came by his money through 100% legal means only because his cronies corrupted the process to make his wealth accumulation legal.

Personally, I think he doomed his candidacy the second he tried to make $10k "gentleman's" bet during a Presidential debate.

Harry_Seldon: Do you get the feeling that people think that Larry Flynt came by his money more honestly than Mitt Romney, at this point?

Larry Flynt at least earned his fortune. Mitt made his raiding businesses and kicking people out of their jobs.

Imagine how many men and women had to go home one night to tell their kids that, through no fault of their own, they lost their job. And at that moment elsewhere, Mitt Romney was already stalking his next victim.
