It is a great farking show. Keeps getting better. I wondered how they could top the Mags Bennett line last year, but it looks like they are on their way.

I am loving the show so far. Last year it took 6 episodes to get hot, this year things are clicking on all cylinders from the get go. Limehouse looks like a villian worthy of picking up Mags Bennett solid steel balls.

Olyphant is great as a cowboy/lawman. I don't necessarily like him that much in much else, but he's in his element in Justified.

And Yost has had a pretty good career. Can't believe that anyone's career that started with writing for Hey Dude is still around, though

Really, Mr. Leonard? Everyone ALWAYS gets your characters better than you put them on paper. See:

3:10 to Yuma
Jackie Brown
Get Shorty

/ah hell, throw Be Cool in there too. I'd rather watch the movie again before I'd read the book again.

I know nothing of what's going to happen in future episodes, but yes, Limehouse looks like an AWESOME villain.

It'll be fun to see the plotlines involving him and that Detroit gangster intersecting.

As is Walton Goggins. Loved his work in The Shield.

Yes. Yes, you do.

He was okay in The Girl Next Door, but he seemed like the same character in Die Hard 4, and a bit too douchey. I dunno. It's like he's too intense for those roles. My opinion of course

I like Leonard's books AND the movies that they sometimes get turned into, I DO notice there are a lot of haters out there, and I'm not sure why. They aren't the perfect literary gems, but they're fun and enjoyable, I don't expect every single book I read to be a home run, but that's the realist in me, I guess. I take something that I enjoy out of them, and I'm fine with that.

It's like... I miss new episodes of Breaking Bad. A lot.

Justified isn't *QUITE* at the level of Breaking Bad. Not yet... but it's DAMN good. It's great for tiding one over until Breaking Bad gets back.

That said, awesome, I'm really glad you're enjoying it, then - cheers!

I know! It took 7 years and many many many rave comments before I finally bought season one from Amazon. It really is an amazing show. You are *there* with the thieves and the hoors and the murderers and Mr. Hu and his pigs, all slogging around in the mud and trying to make their fortunes. A+ will watch again :)

"Justified" = awesome sauce. IIRC, the only problem Leonard has with "Justified" is the kind of hat Raylan wears.

Raylan and Boyd are such great characters and when they have a scene together, it's awesome stuff.

Boyd's little speech about why he isn't the best one to tell Raylan he is in the wrong in this week's episode was perfect.

yeah, did he get shot in the shoulder? in the first episode, raylan shoots boyd and doesn't kill him, and they make a point of saying he did on purpose, that any other man he would've killed. do we chalk up him missing to his wounds, or is he just not the killing type anymore?

safari joe does it again: Will it be hard to follow along if I haven't watched the first two seasons yet?

It's tough to say, since I don't know where Season 3 is going or how past characters/events will be integrated.

Generally speaking, most episodes have standalone plots, but they also feature overarching arc plots that get woven throughout the season.

Usually, the "PREVIOUSLY ON JUSTIFIED" segments before each episode should bring you up to speed on past events.

Worse comes to worse, you can always read up on this, that, or the other on the Justified Wikia site:

Season 1

Season 2

(Spoilers for the episode synopses at the bottom of the page, naturally.)

Ugly Baby Judges You: I have a feeling we'll be seeing that character coming back. As others have pointed out in previous Justified threads, that sort of thing tends to happen.

The fact that he isn't dead yet makes me kinda believe that he'll be seeing him somewhere down the line.

clovis69: Raylan and Boyd are such great characters and when they have a scene together, it's awesome stuff.

And it's hard to believe that we would've lost all that if they went with the original plan to kill Boyd in Season 1. Yikes...

Mmhmm. It's whip-smart writing that isn't trying to be in-your-face clever. It just... *is.*

Well, I think the first episode showed us that Raylan is off his game with the shooting. A guy threatening his pregnant girlfriend? He would definitely shoot to kill if he could.

And yes, Art is the man.

Yeah, he had Plot Armor, sure enough... but even so, you had to wonder what trick he was going to resort to and if the bad guy would've made tracks elsewhere if Raylan DIDN'T shoot/kill him and so on and so forth.

Excellent show. One of the best written story arc shows I've seen. And Olyphant is great in it.

My other favorite show is Supernatural. That show had two rough seasons and somehow it got great and then even better. Suspend the disbelief that these guys somehow don't have paying jobs and that the supernatural is real. The titles to the shows are the best I've seen (Are you there God, it's me Dean). The smarmy jokes are awesome. The x-files monster storylines are great. The good v. evil (Angels/Demons, now Titans, and ancient Gods, and everything in between) is awesome. One of my favorite episodes was an alternate universe where they played the heroes playing themselves as actors on a show called Supernatural...and got into a pissing match with one of the producers for naming a character after himself...just like in the actual show. Anyway...I like it.

So, in summary, other than a comedy here and there, my favorite shows are TV are Supernatural, Justified, and sometimes The Walking Dead. Justified and Supernatural for the great writing.

He does a good job in Deadwood, but the part isn't what you're likely to suspect it is. There's not very much of the gun-fighting and ass-kicking we've all been raised to expect from a Western Lawman, and far more of what sheriffs actually spent most of their time doing; politics.

Having said that, Deadwood does a great job of making 60 minutes of dense dialogue engaging.
