i don't know, but a couple of years ago you could not get on a train here in chicago without seeing some twenty-something girl reading her book. but we are a very literate city...

Joan Rivers rocks.

TheDumbBlonde: Joan Rivers rocks.

She does indeed.

Sure, nowadays she is a shell of her former self, but back in the 60s she was one of the pioneers of standup,
playing many times on the Sullivan Show (which was THE place to be if you were a singer or comedian). She
worked her ass off and was actually funny (and filthy in her live shows).

Chelsea Handler decided that she'd sleep with celebrities and guys who ran TV networks to get her career going,
and evidences only enough animal cunning to find a new penis to service that is attached to someone higher on
the Hollywood food chain than the last one.

Chelsea Lately is so much better when Ross Mathews hosts.

Demetrius: I'm still trying to find someone that thinks Chelsea Handler is funny.

Well here ya go. I think she's funny. Started a bunch of years back when I was watching some late night stand-up specials on Comedy Central. She had me cracking up especially when she said, "The best thing about being an alcoholic is nobody depends on you for shiat. 'Hey do you think you could pick me up at the airpo- uhh...never mind I'll get somebody else'"

Then I forgot about her for awhile, before finding her show on cable last year. Between that, some of her books, the After Lately show, and now her new network show, I find her pretty amusing.

I know she mostly caters to women and gays, but I've always gotten along with both of those groups.

No, your boobies rock. Bet your ass rocks. Joan Rivers does not rock. She melts. Or will, in due time.

You can just tell that after a few drinks Chelsea would let you pig fark her, she always looks like these dusty barflys I would see sneaking out of the barracks in the morning

Chelsea is an unfunny biatch, and she should give respect to the lady who paved the way for every female comic. Chelsea also does a poor imitation of joans old act.

She's not even half as funny as Mellisa let alone joan.

I'm amazed she managed to be known as not-funny, yet has recently managed to spread herself onto a total of 1.5 hours of primetime tv,

2012-01-26 07:53:45 PM
Didn't she have a different show on E! (or at least marketed differently) before? I seem to remember her having a show, but she was heavier, and no one was trying to claim her a s hot....then, there's what she has been more recently...I has confused.

oops, 2 Broke Girls is not Chelsea Handler. it's produced by Whitney Cummings, whom i just associate with Chelsea Handler-esque awfulness.

Whenever I see Joan Rivers I have to remember that she is an actual human being and not a poorly crafted Muppet made of of leather or a victim of a toxic waste spill. Seriously though, her face scares the hell out of me.

Joan Rivers has put her time in, she deserves respect for that alone. Pretty soon Chelsea won't be attractive to those she can f*ck for favors. She needs to realize that. Joan will be there. Ha!

I wouldn't fark Chelsea Handler if all it took was 50 Cents.

Demetrius: I'm still trying to find someone that thinks Chelsea Handler is funny.

My sister -- my seemingly intelligent, clean-cut sister -- thinks she's a riot. Of course, she also watches loads of reality tv. I think she's reverse a reverse autistic savant or something -- smart in regards most things, but utterly retarded when it comes to one thing (choices for entertainment).

I work in a bookstore and Handler's books sell like hot cakes. So apparently there's lots of her fans out there. Just follow the stench of liquor and STDs.

Pot calling the kettle black. I farking HATE Ralph Garman, that farking hack, lame impressionist, polluting the Los Angeles radio airwaves with his stupid shiat. So what I'm saying is, go fark yourself, you mouth-breathing dumbass, with your "Garmy Strong hurrr durrr".

The extent of my experience with Chelsea Handler is when she's been a guest on Conan O'Brien. She ain't funny, and she's a raging biatch to both Conan and Andy. But she's especially dismissive of Andy. I don't have a clue why they've had her on more than the once.

2012-01-26 10:58:36 PM
Some women are funny. Not all women are funny. But when someone says that a particular woman (Handler, Whitney Cummings) certain people act as if it is a blanket statement. What do you mean Whitney isn't funny? By that extension, Tina Fey isn't funny! No, Tina Fey is funny, and she didn't sleep her way to a TV show.

I normally hate Chelsea Handler, but I heard the Stern interview and she was actually very funny and likeable. I guess she's better when someone else is directing the conversation. Not so much when she's running the show.

And sue me, but I like Joan Rivers too, even if she does look like Michael Jackson by this point.

Anyone who hates Joan Rivers should really watch this documentary:
Link (new window)

As someone too young (mid-30's) to really remember her glory days, it is an excellent primer into her as a hard-working, amazing and somewhat depressed woman.

Also, anyone who works for her gets the promise of having their children's education and their family vacations paid for by Joan from beginning to end, and that alone deserves a lot of respect.

I actually like Joan Rivers. I don't watch all her stuff, but I've liked her in things I see her in. However, I can't for the life of me get why people like Chelsea Handler herself. Okay, I like her show sometimes, but it really depends on who's on the round panel and what they talk about. However, my enjoyment of her show, has nothing to do with her, in fact, she often times distracts from the funniness of her show. She has a horrible time reading and delivering lines/jokes, she is constantly de-railing the conversation to talk about personal business (I don't care who got drunk at your party last night nor do I care if Jo Koi is gay), and she generally just sits with a negative attitude about everything waiting to make fun of the other comedians and it's usually not funny, just some personal insult. Ross Matthews is a much better host.

Came in here to provide that same recommendation. I was quite impressed with the file cabinets full of jokes she wrote on 3x5 cards over her decades in comedy. I'm probably 30+ years younger than her and I don't have half the energy she does. I'm a fan.

Anyone who honestly thinks Joan Rivers isn't funny shouldn't be commenting - they aren't smart enough to be trusted forming reliable opinion.

Chelsea Handler on the other hand is more biting than actually amusing.

I haven't seen a lot of Joan Rivers. I'm not into fashion at all, so a bunch of catty women sniping about how others are dressed doesn't really interest me. but she was awesome on Louie.

Chelsea isn't funny (and I tried to read one of her books). she's also kind of rode hard/put up wet. there's just nothing there that's appealing.

That documentary caused me to search for some of her old stand up. I couldn't help but just admire her after watching it and I'm glad there's some love for it in here.
